[ENG] We left the driest desert in the world - the Atacama Desert, and the rain caught us right away. It's a pity, because the bus ride from Arica in Chile to La Paz in Bolivia led us on an incredibly scenic route, and this long-missed rain completely spoiled everything for us.

Wyjechaliśmy z najsuchszej pustyni świata - pustyni Atacama, i od razu dorwał nas deszcz. Wielka szkoda, bo przejazd autokarem z Arica w Chile do La Paz w Boliwii prowadził nas po niesamowicie widokowej trasie, a ten wytęskniony od tygodni deszcz zupełnie nam wszystko popsuł.

The uniqueness of our route was that it led between two National Parks. First, we saw Lauca National Park on the Chilean side, and then Sajama National Park on the Bolivian side. Both National Parks, from the point of view of laymen we are, are incredibly similar to each other. Both National Parks are nothing more than a huge volcano (on the Chilean side it is the Parinacota volcano, and on the Bolivian side it is the Sajama volcano) and the surrounding swamp-lake landscape. Complementing the landscape are numerous herds of llamas grazing here and there. Lam is so many and they blend in so well with the landscape that I have the impression that the Lauca and Sajama National Parks are, right after the Peruvian Machu Picchu, the most popular background for presenting photos of these animals. I think that while driving the road between the National Parks, we could count at least a thousand grazing llamas.

Niesamowitość naszej trasy polegała na tym, że wiodła pomiędzy dwoma Parkami Narodowymi. Najpierw, po stronie Chilijskiej, widzieliśmy Lauca National Park, a potem po stronie Boliwijskiej Sajama National Park. Oba Parki Narodowe z punktu widzenia laików jakimi my jesteśmy są do siebie niesamowicie podobne. Oba Parki Narodowe to nic innego jak ogromny wulkan ( po stronie Chilijskiej jest to wulkan Parinacota, a po stronie Boliwijskiej jest to wulkan Sajama) i otaczające go bagnisto-jeziorny krajobraz. Dopełnieniem krajobrazu są liczne stada lam pasących się tu i ówdzie. Lam jest do tego stopnia wiele i tak dobrze komponują się z krajobrazem, że mam wrażenie że Parki Narodowe Lauca i Sajama są zaraz po peruwiańskim Machu Picchu najpopularniejszym tłem do prezentowania fotografii tych zwierząt. Myślę, że podczas przejazdu drogą między Parkami Narodowymi moglibyśmy się doliczyć co najmniej tysiąca pasących się lam.

Someone would accuse us of not seeing these National Parks at all, because we only traveled between them by coach from Chile to Bolivia, but in my opinion, the word we saw very well reflects what we experienced during this trip. The road leading between the volcanoes runs along the road embankment allowing a convenient way to observe a plateau full of lakes and llamas, from which the Parinacota and Sajama volcanoes emerged on a fairly close horizon. The landscape was very monotonous, in fact only the angle at which we looked at the volcanoes dominating in the landscape changed as we traveled further kilometers.

Zarzucił by ktoś nam, że wcale nie widzieliśmy tych Parków Narodowych, bo przecież przejechaliśmy tylko pomiędzy nimi autokarem relacji Chile – Boliwia, ale w mojej ocenie słowo widzieliśmy, bardzo dobrze oddaje to czego doświadczyliśmy podczas tego przejazdu. Droga wiodąca pomiędzy wulkanami na całym swoim odcinku biegnie w nasypie drogowym pozwalającym w wygodny sposób obserwować płaskowyż pełen jezior i lam, z którego na dość bliskim horyzoncie wyłaniały się wulkany Parinacota i Sajama. Krajobraz był bardzo monotonny, tak naprawdę wraz z pokonywaniem kolejnych kilometrów zmieniał się tylko kąt pod którym patrzyliśmy na dominujące w krajobrazie wulkany.

It was a very charming place, and I wish we had a rented car here, which would have allowed us to go carefully around the whole parks, and of course to try to get closer to the grazing llamas. It's hard another time . Even before coming here, we made a decision that, although it looks tempting, we give up on this region for two reasons. The first reason was that we were bored with volcanic landscapes, and the second was that llamas stopped making any impression on us. Unfortunately, when we went by coach, we found out that the volcanoes were more impressive than we imagined, and the number of llamas grazing everywhere surprised us amazingly. You have to go back there sometime.

To było bardzo urokliwe miejsce, i trochę żałuję, że nie mieliśmy w tym miejscu wynajętego auta, co pozwoliłoby nam dokładnie objechać całe parki dookoła, no i oczywiście spróbować zbliżyć się do pasących się lam. Trudno innym razem . Jeszcze przed przyjazdem tutaj podjęliśmy taką decyzję , że ten region, choć wygląda kusząco odpuszczamy sobie z dwóch powodów. Pierwszym powodem było znudzenie się nam wulkanicznych krajobrazów, a drugim to, że lamy przestały już robić na nas jakiekolwiek wrażenie. Niestety jak jechaliśmy autokarem, na miejsce przekonaliśmy się, że wulkany się bardziej imponujące niż to sobie wyobrażaliśmy, a liczba pasących się wszędzie lam zaskoczyła nas niesamowicie. Trzeba tam jeszcze kiedyś wrócić.
