Namaste 🙏

Hope you all are doing great!!!

First of all, I would like to be really thankful to all of you for supporting my previous blogs. It means a lot to me and just like that we reached the central part of the city, and now we were in front of one of the most important, mysterious places and Ghats of Varanasi.

Mehta Ghat—

Now in front of Mehta Ghat, this car is situated between Ram Ghat and Ganesh ghat in year 1961, a rich merchant purchased this Ghat and opened a charitable trust and hospital nearby. Before 1960, it was just a part of Ram Ghat, so we can say that this Ghat is one of the newer Ghats of Varanasi.

Now as we looked back, the Malviya Bridge was looking really tiny and was about a couple kilometres away from us. We had cross more than 50 Ghats along the way and now in the middle of the city.

Another thing that we noticed about Mehta Ghat was this huge building that was being constructed right next to the Ghat. We wondered that it must be The charitable Hospital. You can also see that the building was covered in green coloured cloth.

Ganesh Ghat—

The Ghat right next to the Mehta Ghat is Ganesh Ghat. This place is one of the places which is associated with the worship of Lord Ganesh. Just like other Ghats of Varanasi, the rituals related to the worship take place here.

Bhonsle Ghat—

This Ghat was constructed by the ruler of Marathas from Nagpur. This is one of the contributions of Maratha community to Varanasi. This Ghat is beautifully built by stones and there is a very beautiful fort that’s built right next to the river Ganga.

When you are standing next to this beautiful Ghat, you come to know that how beautiful this looked from the middle of the river. You get the feeling that you are travelling back in time by seeing the architecture this Ghat offers. Another thing that was making it more dramatic was the presence of another fort right next to it, so it was giving a completely vintage vibe.

Ganga Mehal Ghat—

The another four, I was talking about previously was Ganga Mahal. In the photograph below, you can see both the Bhosle and Ganga Mahal Ghat together. The Bhonsle Ghats fort is a little bit bigger than the Ganga Mahal Ghat but together they look very similar and very beautiful.

These two Ghats collectively made a spot for tourist to capture photos and stop their boats midway their journey. You can see the photograph below. One of such boats parked right in the middle of the river, and the people capturing photographs right next to the 2 Ghats.

Sciendia Ghat—

This is a Ghat that borders the most mysterious Manikarnika Ghat and is also very sacred. There is a shiva temple built here that you can see in the photo below.

It just touches the Manikarnika Ghat which is the Ghat where cremation of bodies thakur place all the time and there is a dead body present there all the time waiting to to cremated.

I looked another time back again and noticed how far we’ve come and were no very close to ending our boat journey. The next blog is going to be the last one of the most interesting one as it’s going to be solely about Manikarnika Ghat.

That’s all for today.

Thanks for passing by.

Peace ☮️
