The name of the caves is slightly confusing. If you want to visit these caves, don't go to Zbrašov, but to Teplice nad Bečvou.

Název jeskyní je lehce matoucí. Jestli chcete navštívit tyto jeskyně, nejezděte do Zbrašova, ale do Teplic nad Bečvou.
The visit to the caves itself was preceded by a funny little incident. When I bought my ticket, I was informed that the next tour was in English, so I should wait for the next one. However, I didn't want to wait, so I decided to listen to it in English, since I could understand it.
However, the cashier started making an incredible effort, convincing me not to go on the English tour. That they don't like to do it, that there were problems with it, that I wouldn't understand the safety instructions... it just became an incredible problem that a Czech visitor wanted to go on an English tour. But I was starting to enjoy it, so I insisted that I definitely wanted to go on the tour, while the cashier looked like she might not even let me go on the tour.
In the end, I won the argument, and the cashier printed my ticket. Great!
Until a few minutes before the tour started, it looked like I was going to be the only visitor and have the whole cave to myself. But at the last minute, a group of about twenty foreign students from the University of Ostrava, who are studying here in the Erasmus program, arrived.
Samotné návštěvě jeskyní předcházela drobná úsměvná příhoda. Totiž když jsem si kupoval vstupenku, dozvěděl jsem se, že nejbližší prohlídka je v anglickém jazyce, takže bych si měl počkat na tu následující. Nechtělo se mi však čekat, tak jsem se rozhodl, že si to poslechnu v angličtině, vždyť rozumím.
Nicméně paní pokladní začala vyvíjet neuvěřitelné úsilí, a přesvědčovala mě, abych na anglickou prohlídku nešel. Že to dělají neradi, že jsou s tím problémy, že nebudu rozumět bezpečnostním instrukcím... prostě začal být neuvěřitelný problém s tím, že český návštěvník chce jít na prohlídku v angličtině. Mě to ale začalo bavit, takže jsem trval, že na tu prohlídku rozhodně chci, zatímco pokladní vypadala, že mě na ni snad ani nepustí.
Nakonec jsem spor vyhrál, a pokladní mi přes všechny výhrady vstupenky vytiskla. Super!
Ještě několik minut před zahájením prohlídky to vypadalo že budu jediný návštěvník a budu mít celé jeskyně sám pro sebe. Ale na poslední chvíli přišla výprava asi dvaceti zahraničních studentů z Ostravské univerzity, co u nás studují v programu Erasmus.
Tak tedy - vzhůru dolů!
In other caves it is generally cold. But these caves, on the other hand, are quite warm. The temperature in these caves stays around 14°C all year round.
The lower areas of the caves are filled with carbon dioxide, sometimes in lethal concentrations.
V jeskyních bývá chladno. Ale tyto jeskyně jsou naopak poměrně teplé. Po celý rok se v nich udržuje teplota kolem 14°C.
Níže položené prostory jeskyní jsou zaplněny oxidem uhličitým, někde až ve smrtící koncentraci.
The stalactite decoration in these caves is relatively modest. It is formed by dissolving limestone with carbonic acid.
Instead of stalactites, however, there are other unique decorations - "donut" wall coatings and crystalline aggregates of aragonite.
Krápníková výzdoba v těchto jeskyních je poměrně skromná. Vzniká rozpouštěním vápence uhličitou kyselkou.
Místo krápníků je tam ale i jiná unikátní výzdoba - „koblihové" povlaky stěn a krystalické agregáty aragonitu.

Tam by byl syn v pokušení si něco odloupnout. I když předpokládám, že se tam dal nějaký ten aragonitový suvenýr i zakoupit.
Vedle pokladny byl obchůdek, viděl jsem tam nějaké geody a podobné vzorky v cenách řádově stovky Kč.
Najít to je jistě hodnotnější zážitek než koupit. Ale mám utkvělou představu, že první kameny v přírodě Ti někdo musí ukázat, abys je příště poznal.
