It's been a long time since I've been back to my hometown. Since starting my florist business in Takengon City, time seems to fly by. My days are filled with busy flower arrangements, serving customers, and managing my small business, which is now starting to grow. But beneath all that, there's a growing longing for my hometown, my family, and the peaceful atmosphere of my hometown, Lhokseumawe.
So, one weekend, I decided to go home. Not only to relieve my longing, but also to take a break from my busy work routine. The distance from Takengon to Lhokseumawe isn't short. The overland journey takes over five hours. However, every bend in the road and every view along the route is a unique beauty.
Crossing green hills, deep valleys, and occasionally glimpsing rivers along the roadside made the journey enjoyable. I felt like I was being invited back to enjoy Aceh's captivating nature, from the cool air of the Gayo highlands to the warm coastline of northern Aceh. As we got closer to Lhokseumawe, the scent of the sea began to linger. My heart fluttered, as if greeted by a hometown breeze.
As I arrived at my family's home, a warm welcome enveloped me. The sounds of laughter, light conversation, and the aroma of my mother's cooking made me feel truly at home. This simple village house remained the same as it always had been, surrounded by trees, clean air, and a tranquility hard to find in the city.
That day, I deliberately avoided work. I simply wanted to enjoy the moment together, chat with my family, and recharge the spiritual energy drained by the routine of my florist business in Takengon.
That evening, we had a long conversation on the porch, listening to the sound of crickets and the soothing village breeze. It felt simple, yet so precious.

The next morning, on a sunny Sunday, we agreed to go on vacation to Ujong Blang Beach. This beach is known as a favorite tourist destination in Lhokseumawe. It's not too far from the city center, about 40 minutes from our village home.
The journey to the beach was pleasant. On either side of the road, rice paddies and coconut trees danced in the breeze. The sky was a clear blue, cloudless sky, signaling a perfect day to enjoy the sea.

As soon as we arrived at Ujong Blang Beach, the atmosphere immediately became lively. Many families and children were playing along the shore. Some tourists lounged in wooden huts along the shore, enjoying the gentle sea breeze.

This beach is indeed known for its beauty. Its long coastline is covered in soft, golden sand. The water was sparkling blue, and the waves were moderate, perfect for playing in the water. In the distance, the ocean view stretched out to the Strait of Malacca and the Indian Ocean, seemingly endless.
Along the beach, there were rows of food stalls and huts offering seating, tables, and ample parking. The atmosphere in these stalls was intimate and relaxed. We decided to sit in one of the shaded huts, enjoying the ocean view while ordering snacks.

That day, I tried several snacks, such as mochi (rice cakes) in various flavors, French fries, and warm nuggets. Not to be missed, fresh young coconuts were split open right in front of us, the natural sweetness of the coconut water adding to the ambiance.
As we enjoyed our meal, a gentle sea breeze blew, bringing with it the distinctive aroma of the sea. Children ran along the shore, playing in the sand and chasing the small waves that came in one after another. Some even bathed happily, their laughter blending with the soothing sound of the crashing waves.

Ujong Blang Beach offers not only natural beauty but also a calming atmosphere. From the edge of the beach, the view is breathtaking: the blue sea water sparkling in the morning sun, the sky clear, and the shadows of clouds slowly moving across the horizon.
I sat gazing out at the open sea, letting my thoughts drift. It felt so peaceful. All the fatigue of work and routine seemed to melt away in the sea breeze. In my heart, I was grateful for the opportunity to enjoy simple moments like this, returning to my roots, returning to my family, and returning to my inner peace.

This beach is not only a tourist destination, but also a space for reflection. Here, I felt like I had rediscovered the balance between hard work and the tranquility of life. I realized that every now and then we need to pause, enjoy time with those closest to us, and remember that life isn't just about busyness, but also about small, simple joys.
Closing the day, we returned home in the late afternoon. The sky was beginning to redden, creating a beautiful silhouette on the horizon. The beach was slowly becoming deserted, but the memories of that day will remain with me.
A trip back to my hometown is more than just a vacation. It's a way to refresh the soul, reminisce about roots, and realize the value of togetherness.
Ujong Blang Beach, with all its simplicity and beauty, has reminded me that the true meaning of rest is not just a pause from activity, but also a return to experiencing life with a grateful heart.
And when I return to Takengon to continue my florist business, I know that despite the busyness, there's always a place and time to return home. Because returning home, truly, is the best way to find yourself.
