Yes, I was shocked seeing them. This was only 1 rock crevice of many that the lady bugs were swarming in. I've never seen anything like it before.
The barren patches of landscape give the area character. Otherwise they would just be your typical mountains. It also gives rise to unique plants that can handle growing in those conditions.
