Morón es una pequeña ciudad fundada en el año 1853 en la provincia de Ciego de Ávila, en la región central de Cuba. En aquel momento, la ciudad era una pequeña aldea que se encontraba en una región pantanosa conocida como "El Mangle”.
La fundación de la ciudad fue impulsada por la construcción de una línea de ferrocarril que unía la ciudad de Cárdenas, en la costa norte de Cuba, con la ciudad de Santa Clara, en el centro de la isla. La construcción del ferrocarril fue una iniciativa del empresario español Carlos Roloff, quien vio en la zona un potencial para el cultivo de la caña de azúcar
La llegada del ferrocarril a Morón permitió el transporte de la caña de azúcar y otros productos agrícolas a las ciudades cercanas y a los puertos de la costa norte, lo que contribuyó al desarrollo económico de la región.
Con el paso del tiempo, Morón se convirtió en un importante centro de producción de azúcar y tabaco en Cuba.
