In today's tour it is time to visit the City of Pamplona, located in the Community of Navarra in Spain. This city is known mainly for the Sanfermines festival, a wide gastronomy and the famous running of the bulls. But I have decided to come to the city to know it from another point of view and see what this city offers to any visitor, at any time of the year or any day and above all to see how is the daily life of its inhabitants.
The city of Pamplona hides a lot of history, in it we can see a lot of monuments, churches, walls and a variety of cafes and restaurants with a very old look. All these places are part of the essence of the city, so in a first contact we can see that in this city there are many types of activities that can enjoy so many local people, tourists, pilgrims, some passionate about food or wine and is ultimately makes note that everyone enters this city.

Undoubtedly one of the places that is most noticeable are its Medieval Walls that are surrounding the entire city and that they are still very well preserved. To enter this site there are 6 gates in different locations, however, the main gate called the portal of France stands out, this is the only one that still retains its original structure and there we can see a drawbridge with the same system of chains that was used at that time. Being inside the walls we can tour it in its entirety, as we walk we can see the Royal Palace which is the old palace where the Kings of Navarre were and if we reach the top we find a spectacular view of the city outside its walls with the background in the distance of the Arga River that crosses the city.

Another very significant point of this city are Streets and squares, here we highlight its main square called the Castle Square this is a central point where most of the buildings, locals, restaurants and people, residents or not, are concentrated. In this place we find an offer of very cozy terraces where you can sit and have a coffee and enjoy the beauty of the buildings that are in it.
There is also a gazebo in the middle that gives you a 360º view so you can captivate your eyes by observing the amount of colorful facades that are found at this point in the city. This square is undoubtedly the heart of Pamplona and even sitting in the cafe we can imagine through its cobblestone streets how they were held different types of medieval tournaments, markets and even political demonstrations, also in this place were held several bullfights until they were allowed.

Continuing with the tour we will find two very important architectural structures for the city, the first is the Church of Saturnino who is the patron saint of this city, this church has a very gothic architecture and inside it we can find both Saturnino and the Virgen del Camino who is also a very important patron saint for Navarra. Further on we will find the Church of San Nicolas, this has a Roman style architecture that simulates as if it were a Roman fortress, this building is extraordinary and being inside we can feel how cozy it can be, so on your visit to Navarra I recommend you to enter these two places regardless of whether you have a Catholic religious belief or not.

Once we finish this first stage of the tour is time to eat and we go into the San Nicolas Street in the historic center, this is one of the busiest when it comes to enjoy the local food of this city and in it we will find a countless number of bars where we offer their most representative food, such as potato omelets, croquettes, steaks, cod, roasted peppers and a number of other dishes of the region, just walking down this street on this street is very difficult to decide which place to enter, however we have the option to always look at their windows and let ourselves be carried away by the smell and the palate.

In relation to the San Fermin Festival and the running of the bulls, it is a celebration that would be very interesting to attend as it is very famous around the world and it reflects a lot of history and tradition of the city. And so important is this celebration that walking through the historic center we began to see some signs of a so-called route of the running of the bulls, it makes you walk along a route of several kilometers and is the same route that make the bulls of the running of the bulls when they are released, It starts from the lower part of the city called the slope of San Antonio which is like the first stretch and is where the night before they make the bulls arrive before the great race that will take them to the town hall square which is where they perform the famous chupinazo and which is the main icon that kicks off the celebrations of the festival of San Fermin.
Passing in front of the Municipality and not turning to look at it and especially to photograph it would be a big mistake, this facade is spectacular and notice that I had already seen it in some news but being in front of it is worth it and here we also wonder how it is possible that in this small square so many people can gather so many people for the festivities of San Fermin, also in this square we can find some railings that are used to protect the people who are watching the bullfight, so here is a mandatory stop to make a completely touristy photo.
Another point that I did not know is that Pamplona is also within the Route of the Camino de Santiago, here the pilgrims cross the Arga river of which I had spoken previously through the portal of France that is in the walls, then this guides them to the Cathedral of Pamplona, whose silhouette is looming once you go through the wall. Once we arrive at the cathedral I notice that its facade is not quite as impressive as I imagined, but once we are inside we find a central aisle that is extremely impressive. Once the pilgrims visit this obligatory stop on their way through Pamplona, they head to the park of the citadel and from there they set off to their next destination on the route.

And to finish our tour of the city we went to the Taconera Gardens which is a few meters from the citadel. This park is one of the most important of the city and also has a romantic and exotic touch at the same time. In this park we can find a lot of exotic plants and trees, besides that on the sides we find some paths where we find some loose animals such as deer, peacocks, and ducks in an environment if you could say freedom. This place is ideal to get away from the noise of the city and we can easily spend a very quiet afternoon.

En nuestro recorrido de hoy ha llegado el momento de visitar la Ciudad de Pamplona, ubicada en la Comunidad de Navarra en España. Esta ciudad es conocida principalmente por la fiesta de Sanfermines, una amplia gastronomía y el famoso encierro de toros. Pero he decidido venir a la ciudad para conocerla desde otro punto de vista y ver que ofrece esta ciudad para cualquier visitante, en cualquier época del año o en cualquier día y sobre todo ver cómo es el día a día de sus habitantes.
La ciudad de Pamplona esconde mucha historia, en ella podemos observar una cantidad de monumentos, iglesias, murallas y una gran variedad de cafés y restaurantes con un aspecto muy antiguo. Todos estos lugares forman parte de la esencia de la ciudad, por lo que en un primer contacto podemos ver que en esta ciudad hay muchos tipos de actividades que pueden disfrutar tantas personas locales, turistas, peregrinos, algún apasionado por la comida o por el vino y está en definitiva hace notar que todo el mundo entra en esta ciudad.

Sin duda alguna uno de los lugares que más se hace notar son sus Murallas Medievales que van rodeando toda la ciudad y que las mismas aún se encuentran muy bien conservadas. Para entrar a este sitio se encuentran 6 puertas en diferentes ubicaciones, sin embargo, se destaca la puerta principal llamada el portal de Francia, esta es la única que aún conserva su estructura original y allí podemos ver un puente elevadizo con el mismo sistema de cadenas que se usaba para ese entonces. Estando dentro de las murallas podemos recorrerla en su totalidad, mientras vamos caminando podemos ver El Palacio Real que es el antiguo Palacio donde estaban los Reyes de Navarra y si llegamos a la parte superior encontramos una vista espectacular de la ciudad fuera de sus muros con el fondo a lo lejos del río Arga que atraviesa la ciudad.

Otro punto muy significativo esta ciudad son Sus calles y plazas, aquí destacó su plaza principal llamada la Plaza del Castillo este es un punto central donde se concentran la mayor cantidad de edificios, locales, restaurantes y persona residentes o no. En este lugar encontramos una oferta de terrazas muy acogedoras en donde podrás sentarte a tomar un café y poder deleitar la belleza de los edificios que se encuentran en la misma.
Además se encuentra en el medio una glorieta que te da una visión de 360º para que te puedas cautivar la vista observando la cantidad de fachadas llenas de color que se encuentran en este punto en la ciudad. Esta plaza sin duda alguna es el corazón de Pamplona y aún sentados en el café nos podemos imaginar a través de sus calles empedradas la forma en que fueron celebrado diferentes tipos de torneos medievales, sus mercados y hasta manifestaciones políticas, también en este lugar se estuvieron realizando varias corridas de toros hasta que fueron permitidas.

Continuando con el recorrido nos encontraremos con dos estructuras arquitectónicas muy importantes para la ciudad, La primera es la Iglesia de Saturnino quien es el patrón de esta ciudad, esta iglesia tiene una arquitectura bastante gótica y dentro de ella pues podemos encontrar tanto a Saturnino como a la Virgen del Camino que también es una patrona muy importante para Navarra. Más adelante nos encontraremos con la Iglesia de San Nicolás, está tiene más una arquitectura de estilo romano que simula como si fuese una fortaleza romana, este edificio es extraordinario y estando dentro podemos sentir la acogedora que puede llegar a ser, así que en tu visita por Navarra pues te recomiendo entrar a estos dos lugares independientemente de si tienes alguna una creencia religiosa católica o no.

Una vez que culminamos esta primera etapa del recorrido es la hora de comer y nos adentramos hacia la Calle San Nicolás en pleno casco histórico, esta es una de las más concurridas a la hora de disfrutar de la comida local de esta ciudad y en ella encontraremos una cantidad incontable de bares en donde nos ofrecen su comida más representativa, como lo son las tortillas de patatas, croquetas, chuletones, bacalao, pimientos asados y así una cantidad de otros platillos de la región, tan solo caminar por esta calle por esta calle nos cuesta mucho decidir a qué lugar entrar, sin embargo pues tenemos la opción de siempre mirar sus vitrinas y dejarnos llevar por el olor y el paladar.

Con relación a las Fiestas de San Fermín y a los encierros de toros, es una celebración que sería muy interesante poder asistir ya que es muy famosa en todo el mundo y en ella se refleja mucha historia y tradición de la ciudad. Y así será de importante está esta celebración que caminando por su casco histórico comenzamos a ver algunas señalizaciones de una llamada ruta del encierro, en ella te hacen caminar por un recorrido de algunos varios kilómetros y es la misma ruta que realizan los toros del encierro al soltarlos, comienza desde la parte baja de la ciudad llama a la cuesta de San Antonio que es como el primer tramo y es donde la noche anterior hacen llegar a los toros antes de la gran carrera que los llevará hasta la plaza del ayuntamiento que es donde realizan el famoso chupinazo y la cual es el icono principal que da el inicio a las celebraciones de las fiestas De San Fermín.
Pasar al frente del Ayuntamiento y no voltear a mirarlo y sobre todo a fotografiarlo sería un gran error, esta fachada es espectacular y fíjate que ya los había visto en algún alguna noticia pero estar al frente sí que vale la pena y acá también nos preguntamos qué cómo es posible que en esta plaza tan pequeña se puedan reunir tanta cantidad de personas para las fiestas de San Fermín, además en esta plaza podemos encontrar algunas barandas que son utilizadas para proteger a las personas que están mirando la corrida de toros, así que acá es una parada obligatoria para hacer una foto completamente turística.
Otro punto que no sabía es que Pamplona también está dentro de la Ruta del recorrido del Camino de Santiago, acá los peregrinos cruzan el río Arga del cual les había hablado anteriormente a través del portal de Francia que se encuentra en las murallas, luego este los guía a la Catedral de Pamplona, cuya silueta se va asomando una vez que vas atravesando la muralla. Una vez llegamos a la catedral noto que su fachada no es del todo impresionante como me lo imaginaba, pero una vez estamos dentro nos encontramos con un pasillo central que es extremadamente imponente. Una vez que los peregrinos visitan está parada obligatoria en su paso por Pamplona, se dirigen al parque de la ciudadela y desde allí se marca la salida a su próximo destino de la ruta.

Y para finalizar nuestro recorrido por la ciudad nos dirigimos a los Jardines de la Taconera que está a pocos metros de la ciudadela. Este parque es uno de los más importante de la ciudad y además tiene un toque romántico y exótico a su vez. En este parque podemos encontrar una cantidad de plantas y árboles bastante exóticos, además que a los lados nos encontramos con algunas caminerías en la encontramos algunos animales sueltos como ciervos, pavos reales, y patos en un entorno si se pudiera decir de libertad. Este este lugar es ideal para salir un poco del ruido de la ciudad y fácilmente podemos pasar una tarde muy tranquila.
