IN THE MIDST OF HUSTLING AND BUSTLING MACTAN: THERE’S A HIDDEN GEM.

in Pinmapple5 months ago

Have you ever wondered? Was it possible?

From one of the busiest cities in Cebu which is Lapu-Lapu City, there’s a hidden paradise that you can’t even imagine, existed. Aside from those very well-known beach resorts. There's the CRAB ISLAND.

Ready to unplugged?

CRAB ISLAND is a very popular go to place among locals. When I first got there, I fell in love with the place. From the tranquil water, scenic view, it was like a breath of fresh air. That’s why every weekend, if I had the time, I’ll be there to check the place and unwind. But make sure that you have all the strength needed to be there, because getting to the Island itself is a bet tough not very tough. Just tough 🤣. From the broken road plus the high tide its impassable, better check the tide forecast before going there. Like us were caught with the hightide, look at us. Struggling our way to the island. Its all worth itttttttttttt.

Sorry for the blurry photo ☮️

During low tide it's passable. So, better check the tide forecast first. So far as of this writing there's already a boat available for hire to pass that area when high tide hit. But, for me it's costly. So better be early for you not to get caught by high tide. Plus bring a lot of water during your stay at the island. Coz, when i bought 1 liter of water from the small store in the Island it cost me around Php50.00, imagine. But its all up to you.

When you got to the island. You'll see how beautiful the place was. It's very mesmerizing . It wants you to stay there a lot longer for a couple of months. You can just stay there for a long hour to watch the sunrise. Make moments.

You can also enjoy the Island by cliff diving. Just be careful. At first I was hesitant because I’m not familiar with the waters in the area. As per other blogs the area had a lot of sea snakes. But never mind. Afterwards felt being back as a kid that's keep on jumping and jumping the cliff. Enjoying the moment. Just Loving it.

For better experience you can brought with you, your snorkeling gears like your fins and mask (goggles), there's a lot of fish in the area.

Sea dipping. Another cliff jumping.

Make sure to put your sunscreens. That's paraben free.

Also, make sure that you bring food and drinks. Just like us, we plan ahead for our meal. We decided to cook fish soup (Tinola in Bisaya) and grilled fish for dinner. We also have scallops, sea grapes and cucumber. What a sumptuous dinner.

It was dinner time. Setting up was a bet complicated but we managed to search for a flat surface for us to setup our dinner.

Very aesthetic.

Simple but memorable.

After dinner, we chose to drink alcoholic beverage to uplift our spirits. 😇 But before anything else make sure you already pitched you tents or your hammocks. You might ended sleep directly to the ground. 😂 And made your tent mesh or your tent rain cover or your hammock a blanket.

Make sure to bring insect repellants, toiletries
incase for a call of nature. So be ready.

After a tiring day strike a pose 😂

NOTE:

  1. You can bring your own tent or camping tables and chairs. There’s no cottage available in the area. So, better bring one.

  2. There’s an available small sari2x store in the area. But, ain’t no cheap. So better bring food and snacks. And also bring lots of water.

  3. Please Follow LNT (Leave No Trace) Rules.

HOW TO GET THERE?

TRAVEL TIME: 1 hour from Mandaue City (it depends on the traffic) + going to the Crab Island will take you 10 minutes.

JEEPNEY: From Parkmall, take a jeepney going to Soong (Crossing Marigondon). Inform the jeepney driver to drop you to crossing Ylaya. From there, ride a Tricycle or Motorbike to Crab Island's jump off area and just walk about 6 -7 minutes (depends on your pacing) to the island

V-HIRE: From SM City Cebu, ride a v-hire bound for Gaisano Island Mall Mactan or Savemore Lapulapu. From Gaisano or Savemore Lapulapu, take a jeepney bound to Soong - Crossing Marigondon. Inform the jeepney driver to drop you off at Crossing Ylaya. From there, ride a Tricycle or Motorbike to Crab Island's jump off area and just walk about 6-7 minutes (depends on your pacing) to the island.

ALTERNATIVE: From Pier 3 in Cebu City, ride a ferry boat going to Lapu-Lapu City for ₱30-35 per head. Then ride a multicab or jeepney going to Gaisano Mactan or I your lucky enough you can also ride a jeepney bound to Soong from Lapu-lapu Market.

Yhup, mas maganda talaga pag ma experience mo talaga ang area.

I salute you for reminding people about the famous tagline of an outdoorsy like me, to "leave no trace'. It is something that most people forget nowadays. They got to enjoy the magnificent creation of God yet they forgot to take care of it. Nakakalungkot lang na after enjoying and getting a lot of good photos from a beautiful paradise, iiwan na nila mga basura nila na in the first place, wala naman silang nadatnan na kalat don. Hays.

Yes, most people talaga are unaware so mas better na e remind talaga sila always. para naman we can still enjoy what nature offered to us.
