A Week In Amed

in Worldmappin11 months ago

For six days, Amed was our destination of choice, far from the crowds of Sanur and Seminyak. As it's a three hour drive from Denpasar on busy, winding roads, less tourists make their way up here. It's more for divers and free divers, a veritable playground of a coast with wrecks and great snorkelling spots and coral reefs.

We stayed close to Jemeluk Bay, in the main town of Amed. It's a quiet cove of fishing boats, a few warungs up one end, and beautiful quiet waters for snorkelling. You can hire a deck chair under an umbrella for about $2 a day but if you buy lunch from them it's free. We only did this once though as 2 year old find it hard to settle for any length of time.

This is the second post I've read today about ludicrously cheap food in SEA.

Were it not for the humidity, and all my hair, it'd be an option. I've ever been. I dislike water-based activities, but who am I to say no at prices like that?

Also.. that view of an erupting volcano?! Actually Incredible!

For $20, I would shout about dinner. I wouldn’t get it, though :D

The detail about Mt Agung being visible from the beach gave me chills. It’s so humbling to be close to such a powerful force of nature.

Wow, it's really a very beautiful place and displays a very perfect view. It must be very entertaining and provide peace when enjoying the view ❤️

The place is really inviting. It feels good when you are in the beach.

Lying on the deck chair while enjoying the beautiful sea view was a relaxing way to spend the day. The view of the volcano from afar is indeed spectacular as well as the view from the resort. Pineapple pancake looks interesting; I've never had one. It was a vacation to remember!

It's really a beautiful place

Seeing Mt. Agung from the beach is breathtaking and humbling. The place is truly beautiful, offering a stunning view that brings peace and joy.

Amed sounds like such a hidden gem, which is exactly what you need to escape the crowds! ✨ Watching the sunrise and then swimming before breakfast sounds like pure bliss 💖 That taxi ride sounds intense though! 😅
