Despite warnings that our reservoirs are low, it has been raining alot in country Victoria. We spoke to people living up that way who said they couldn't recall it being so wet. Of course, one wet spell doesn't mean we are safe - El Nino threatens a dry summer, and with more population and AI data centres, we are still at risk.
For all my initial enthusiasm about AI, I am becoming very anti.
Still, seeing waterfalls is enough to make you forget all of that.

Trentham Falls is quite impressive. A short drive from the gorgeous township of Trentham, it plunges around 32 metres over ancient basalt cliffs, and it's the highest single-drop waterfall in Victoria. Standing on the lookout, we were hit with the fine mist drifting from where it gushes and landed on the rocks below.
The falls are attributed to volcanic activity that occurred millions of years ago, where lava spread across the landscape, and cooled into layers of basalt. The nearby Coliban River gradually carved its way through the rock, and created the waterfall that we - and other visitors drawn to the tumbling water - were gazing at in awe.
The rich volcanic soils have been an assett for the surrounding area, ideal for agriculture, and the beautiful forests contain the rusty signs of old timber trade. You wouldn't go short for firewood around here - and we noticed it was half the price of the coast where we live.

The walking path was thankfully short - the cold air was getting to my lungs. Unlike nearby falls (Sailors Falls on the outskirts of Daylesford is also cool) there's no path down to the base, but the lookout was good enough for us.

In town, we go to the historic bakery and wander round the galleries and shops. We found a little antique shop selling French antiques and vintage knick knacks, and bought Jamie found $20 in the gutter, hidden amongst falling leaves. Given this unexpected treasure, we bought a little metal tub for pinecones to sit by our fire at home.
If you're in Melbourne, it's worth a day trip to Trentham, or even the weekend to visit Daylesford and Castlemaine too. Grab your beanie and scarf and puffer jacket htough - it's very cold and damp.
With Love,

Sounds like a goood time for you and Jamie. The falls look fantastic. I bet they sound amazing too. It is funny you visited them when it was cold. We visited Niagra Falls in New York when it was cold as well. The mist coming from the falls doesn't make it very enjoyable does it?
As far as AI. I do not support the construction of anymore of their data centers. They have already shown they are environmental fuck stories.
Glad to see you by the way!
Au contrare! Makes me feel alive and part of nature!
I didn't think anyone noticed.... Xxx
You're jokin' aren't ya! I actually had a look yesterday in case I'd missed one of your posts, saw you hadn't posted in eleven days and immediately assumed you were dead:)
How do you know I'm not? Hard to tell these days.
No... I just had .. ennui?
I feel a bit gooey inside that you. He kex. Battery charging 💓
I know it's you because you keep leaving sentences unfinished just to annoy me:)
And write things like 'he kex' and not recall what it was I was saying before the demon Typo took over.
And 'inside that you' for that matter.
Sorry I'm annoying X
Not to mention
But I like you anyway:)
Everytime I scroll through my feed Im looking for your posts. Your one of my favs!
Bless. Thanks. You make me want to be here again. Almost X.
How could we not? I was doing some major restructuring to my account, just when you stopped posting. I honestly thought I had messed something up, but I'm glad to see you're back and doing well.
Doing well is a stretch but it's super nice to be missed. I wish people had told me so.
Looks like a lovely place. What did you buy in the antique shop?
We've got a heatwave here the likes of which we've never seen before. Normally if we get any sun at all there are water conservation measures introduced immediately, but now that we have 129 data centres I think the government are scared to even mention the words water shortage.
Beyond fucked up. I'm sure there'll be a backlash but I'm a reasonably hopefully person.
SO beautiful falls, I would like to visit that one when I got the chance to be there in Australia
I hope you can one day. There's a lot of beautiful waterfalls.
Here 35 Celcius feels like 38 C. Wanna go to deeply forest!
That would be nice, with some water of course.
It feels great to see so much water! I've been back from my trip in the desert for over a week now, and it seems like the rain doesn't bother me any more. At least for now. There are no spectacular waterfalls near here, so it's lovely to see one in your post.
You haven't written in a long time; it's nice to hear from you on Hive and see beautiful places in Australia.
Thankyou. I'll try to write more. X
