Trippy Mirrors & My First Snow | Trip to Coorg - 2

in Pinmapplelast year

If you missed the first post on my trip to Coorg, here’s the link:
Underwater Aquarium, Mysore | Trip to Coorg-1
It is all about our visit to the Lokaranjan Underwater Tunnel Aquarium in Mysore, India.

In this post, I’d like to take you ahead with the rest of the places we visited on the trip. Like I had mentioned in the previous post, we bought combo tickets to the Aquarium, Mirror Maze, and the Snow City. All these places were a few meters apart from each other. So, next we visited the Mirror Maze.

It was a small space filled with mirrors. The first hall we entered had mirrors on all sides, including the ceiling and the floor with pink & blue lights making it look like a never ending illusion.

There was also a rotating turbine that creates an illusion that you are moving round and round if you stare at it for a few minutes. You lose all sense of gravity and this was actually fun to be on.

Finally, we walked over to the Snow City. The exterior was built like a palace.

We entered the place and we had to pay an extra INR 50 for lockers, INR 50 per person for socks which were mandatory to purchase, and an INR 50 for the permission to take the phone inside. That is a total of 1.83 USD.

They allow people in in batches of our hour each. So, we had to wait 20 minutes for the 12:00 pm batch. We visited the cafeteria at the place. Since it was really hot, we got ourselves some chilled Goli Soda.

Goli Soda is a carbonated drink also known as Banta Soda. It was quite popular among the 90s kids in India and is famous for the pop sound it makes while you open it. It is also known as the Marble Soda, as there is a small marble in the neck of the bottle that needs to be popped inside in order to open it and drink from it.

Here, we have the more modernised version of the Goli Soda. The original Soda would be available in only the lemon and orange flavours. However, now the same concept has been renewed to introduce more flavours. We tried the Blueberry and the Jeera Masala. I liked the latter more. These were priced at INR 60 (0.73 USD) each.

Finally at 12 pm, we entered the Snow City and were provided with boots, thick jackets, and gloves to keep us from freezing. All prepared, we walked into the big hall. I underestimated the place and didn’t think it would be that cold but it turned out to be -8 degrees Celcius and we were freeeeezing.

It was our first snow experience and we definitely did have fun. Although this was just fake snow xD, I believe something’s better than nothing. Can’t wait to experience my first real snow though. This was quite the trailer of how cold it can get and I almost froze lol.

There are appointed photographers who will take pictures of you, and then on exit you can print the pictures you like at an additional charge. So, we took a couple of shots that we viewed on a slideshow at the exit.

We took a few prints of the pictures we liked the most and they charged us INR 140 (1.71 USD) for each picture in the medium size. They charge INR 220 (2.69 USD) for the large prints. This is what it looked like:

It was super fun being absolutely childish kids for once.😂 There was a long slide, an igloo, a snowbike and other things to have fun with. My hands were too frozen to be able to take pictures, so I just decided to have fun without using my phone much hehe.

At the end of it, the lights were all turned off and party lights were put on and we all danced to Bollywood music and it was a really nice time.

After this, we got back on our way to Coorg. We stopped for lunch. It then started to pour heavily in between and we had to stop our ride thrice because I was carrying my camera and couldn’t afford the bags to get wet. But it definitely was a beautiful ride.

Clicked this picture of the tree branching out on the phone front camera pointing upwards. Just love the angle and how it turned out. Most of the roads were covered with such trees on the sides.

On reaching Coorg finally, it was past 5:30 pm. We were quite tired from the long day we had and decided to just go around the hotel we checked in at. We got some good coffee, bread omelette and lemon tea at a place with a splendid view of the hills. It was the most perfect end to the day.

I believe good conversations and good coffee is enough to keep a man content. 😌

Next day, we visited the beautiful Namdroling Monastery, shopped around, had some Tibetan food and went to see the waterfalls. There’s so much more to come up about our trip in Coorg but that’s for the next post.

That’s all for this post. If you got till the end of the post, thank you for reading! Do drop a vote and a comment if you liked it. And of course, a reblog if you loved it. ✨
