The beaches in Sucre State are the most spectacular in Venezuela, and to prove it, today I’m sharing some photos of Carenero, a paradise-like spot located along the Marigüitar road, next to Güirintal. A key landmark there is the large stand selling pineapples and cachapas with pork and cheese, which can be found on both sides of the road.
The scenes Carenero offers us look like something out of a movie; in addition to a breathtaking ocean view, you can also see a wooded area and a majestic mountain. A pier and a boat welcome us as if we were in a postcard, an invitation to stay in that Eden.
The beach is serene and the atmosphere quiet; walking down a cove, you can discover this natural wonder. However, what I didn’t like was seeing debris on the shore, coming from the construction projects taking place nearby.
I found it strange that, even though it was a beach suitable for swimming, there was no one around. My doubts were cleared up when I realized that Carenero isn’t a sandy beach; once the seawater receded and the waves began to roll in again, I could see that the shore was muddy, which is unpleasant and even dangerous if you’re barefoot.
Perhaps that is why the pier stands out on the horizon, as from there the view changes for those thinking of diving into the waters of Carenero. The sunset here must be a visual spectacle, but I’ll save that for another time when I can capture images from a different perspective. I bid farewell to Carenero, grateful for the sensory experience it offered, and began walking toward Güirintal.

Las playas del estado Sucre son las más espectaculares de Venezuela y para muestra hoy les presento imágenes de Carenero, un lugar paradisíaco que está ubicado vía Marigüitar, al lado de Güirintal, siendo un punto de referencia la gran venta de piñas y de cachapas con cochino y queso que están a ambos lados de la carretera.
Las imágenes que nos ofrece Carenero parecen propias de una película, además de una vista al mar privilegiada, también se puede apreciar una zona boscosa y una imponente montaña. Un muelle y un bote nos reciben como si se tratara de una postal, una invitación a permanecer en aquel Edén.
La playa es serena y el ambiente silencioso, bajando por una ensenada se puede descubrir esta maravilla natural. No obstante, lo que no resultó de mi agrado fue observar escombros en la orilla, proveniente de las construcciones que se están realizando en sus cercanías.
Me pareció extraño que, aunque fuese una playa apta para bañarse, no había nadie cerca. La respuesta a mis dudas se despejó al constatar que Carenero no es una playa con arena, una vez que el agua de mar se recoge para continuar con el oleaje pude advertir que la orilla es fangosa, lo que resulta desagradable y hasta peligrosa si se está descalzo.
Tal vez por ello destaca la presencia del muelle en el horizonte ya que desde allí el panorama cambia para quienes piensen en zambullirse en las aguas de Carenero. El atardecer acá debe ser un espectáculo visual, pero será para otra ocasión cuando pueda captar imágenes desde otra perspectiva. Me despedí de Carenero agradeciendo su aporte para los sentidos y comencé a caminar rumbo a Güirintal.
