Waterfall Niagara (Vodopad Nijagara), Podgorica, Montenegro

in Pinmapple6 months ago (edited)

Hello everyone.
This summer with couple friends we decided to visit Albania. We started from Sarajevo,Bosnia and Herzegovina. On our way to Albania we passed through Montenegro. When we got close to Podgorica my friend said that there is nice place where we can stop and have break. And it did not disappoint. If I was traveling alone I would miss it probably it is not immediately close to the main road and as I recall there was no big signs with photos about Waterfall Niagara.

Around 150 years ago local farmers decided to make a dam on the river Cijevna in order to make a water mill. And now we can enjoy Waterfall Niagara in Montenegro. It is not very big but scenery is beautiful.

They say it is best to visit Niagara waterfalls in March or April since there is a lot of water in river Cijevna. During summer if river dry up you want be able to see waterfall and its beauty.

Near waterfall there is a restaurant. It is nice place to take a break from journey. This is the entrance toward the waterfall.

This is Cijevna river.

We are getting closer now. River looks clean and fresh. This was in mid June.

It is interesting how you can see the line of the water and looks like water just stops there.

Niagara waterfall.
From here you can see waterfall and how water just disappears into the rocks.

Around the Niagara waterfall and along river Cijevna bed there is this interesting rock terrain.

You can explore canyon of river. I was very cautious since rocks seemed slippery.

Waterfall from closer point.

You can see the canyon where water continues its flow.

You can go closer to the water inside the cayon.

Water is appearing from all around the place. You will see small waterfalls around the river bed.

It is really beautiful sight.
Canyon with small waterfall is so relaxing and walk around is enjoyable.

Ruins of a building.

This is small lake like place. It could be good place to refresh yourself during hot summer days.

These rocks around river are very beautiful as well.
You have to be careful while walking around.

One more look at waterfall.

Very beautiful and memorable place. If you are on this route this is your place to visit.

Before stopping by Niagara Waterfall we stopped at canyon of river Tara in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Beautiful view.
On river Tara there are rafting routes.

And entering Montenegro the roads are passing along canyon and through the mountains. It is very interesting journey.
Here we saw this bridge between mountains.
When we got closer there were people who stopped their car and there was bus with tourist as well.
So we stopped here also and took some photos.

Here on the right you can see tunnel and road passing through the mountain.
It was so many small tunnels curved into the mountain.

After Niagara Waterfalls in Podgorica we continued our journey to the Albania.
