Yesterday evening, after a long day dealing with local banks and utility offices, I walked around the village while it was getting dark. I wanted to start getting to know the areas I have not had time to explore yet with time to stop and see every small detail.

As in many other Portuguese villages, most of the street pavement is cobblestones and they are narrow, you have to drive very slowly to avoid scratching your car. It is funny as almost every one of the village streets is two-way, you can imagine what happens when another car comes in the opposite direction. But everyone is very polite, one of the cars stops and goes a few meters in reverse to turn into a different street and let the other car pass.

There are some villas outside of town, but in the center, most are old small houses with stone walls and they all own a nice yard where they grow veggies or have chickens I can hear them waking me up early in the morning and I can also hear a couple of donkeys from one of the neighbours.

Here's a shot of the old town stable we have purchased, you can barely see the trailer inside with some light. It will be nice to take some photos of the current state and compare them with the way it looks after we restore it.

Here are two shots of the main church, in daylight and at night.

And finally, the elementary school which is also an old building, and all the students share the same class. Right now you can see the scaffold as quite soon restoration work is going to start.

Still have to take a few more walks to get to know everything as the village extension is big, I will probably bring one of my bikes on the next trip to also explore all the surroundings.
