Sant Pau is one of the most iconic hospitals in town, it was built at the beginning of the XX century and it has a modernist style, as Casa Batllò or Casa Milà. The buildings of the hospital complex were declared a Unesco World Heritage site in 1998. Newer modern buildings have been built in the past decades and that's where most of the medical services are offered today, this old complex is used for expositions and non-related daily medical purposes We decided to go and visit this Christmas light expo which has been taking place during the last few years.

There was a maping in the main entrance building that you could watch while waiting in line for the exposition to open. It was changing the building colors as the different scenes were projected.

While crossing the main building entrance, before stepping out to the expo, you could see a map of the different light areas.

Just stepping out there was a huge Christmas tree in the middle of the open space area, surrounded by different colored buildings with different light themes which were labeled with different Christmas song lyrics.

The light projected on the walls of every one of those old buildings made the place quite impressive. The feeling was walking in the middle of a magic place.

And at the top of this open area, a huge Tio log tree was welcoming all children, as this is a Catalan tradition where kids hit the log with a stick at Christmas Eve to get candy.

After looking at every single corner of the main open area we started walking to the different small light gardens around the buildings. We started entering a garden of love.

1000007505.jpg

You could see red-lighted hearts all over

Finally, a big one was created with two hands.

We then entered the Christmas presents area full of lighted boxes with their laces.

Which led to an open area where you could sit and relax while contemplating all the lighted areas and have some food.

And then stepped into a sea of lights inside one of the buildings

To end the walking tour we walked into the Whishing Cloud area, which was pretending to be a cold Artic, you entered and there was blue light with white smoke simulating fog and you could write a wish and hang it over several ribbons hanging from the ceiling.

When getting out of this last building there was a garden full of snowflakes, white bear trees, and stars as a way to wish you good night.
