Trailblazing Surprises: Our Unpredictable Journey

in Worldmappin8 months ago (edited)

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well. Life has had its fair share of ups and downs for me recently, which has kept me away from the hive. Despite the challenges, I hope you'll still consider me a part of this community. In my last post, I shared our journey to Baklai Para to explore the magnificent Baklai Waterfall. Let's dive back into our adventure.

The next morning, we rose early and packed our belongings, eager to visit the mighty Baklai before making our way to Shilopi Para for the night. After a hearty breakfast, we were all set to embark on our adventure. However, just as we were about to set out, a group of Army soldiers arrived in the village, causing us some unease as it was an unusual sight.

We were ready to move

They informed us that there was credible information about a group of terrorists camping along our intended trail, rendering it unsafe to proceed. Sadly, they had closed the route due to this emergency. Our hearts sank at this news, but we attempted to persuade them to allow us to visit the waterfall. Regrettably, our pleas fell on deaf ears, and they insisted on taking us to their camp for our safety. They scrutinized our IDs and documents, detaining us for about two hours. Eventually, they promised to arrange transportation to send us home safely, but we couldn't accept their offer. Instead, we secretly plotted an alternative route to continue our trek.

Waiting at the camp and it wasn't pleasant

Their camp was perched atop a hill, and while the sun bathed the surroundings in warmth, we were held there for security reasons. Our adventurous spirits, however, were undeterred by the potential danger. We roamed around, brainstorming a new route while awaiting transportation.

The Army eventually put us on a truck, instructing us to head home safely. After covering a few kilometers, we paid the truck driver and disembarked.

We had already arranged for a local guide who was willing to take us further. Thus, we awaited his call at a nearby tea stall. After an hour of anticipation, he finally got in touch, instructing us to meet at a place called "12 Kilometres." We set off towards that location on foot.

Walking towards new hopes

The sun blazed overhead, and the paved road radiated heat, making the trek exhausting. After several hours, we reached our destination and met our guide at a place known as "12 Kilometres." He led us into a Jhum Ghar (A "jhum ghar" is a traditional bamboo and thatch structure used by tribal communities to store their cultivated crops) and began outlining our new route. This was the reverse of our original plan, with Baklai Waterfall now scheduled for the end of our journey. Since it was already noon, we couldn't complete the trek that day, so we had no choice but to spend the night there.

The Jhum Ghar was enchanting, fulfilling our dream of spending a night in one. The view from the Jhum ghor was simply breathtaking. We could see the mountains, the expansive sky, and even some distant para (villages). Our stay was more than worthwhile.

Now, it was time to prepare lunch, but we faced a challenge due to a shortage of water. We collected some empty pots and set off downhill to gather water from a nearby stream. Dividing into two groups, one collected water while the other prepared the place and the meal. I was part of the water collection group. After trekking for about half an hour through the jungle without any idea which way we were heading, we followed the sound of the stream and finally reached the stream. The water was cold and crystal clear, tempting us to take a refreshing bath after our tiring journey. We couldn't resist, and it rejuvenated our spirits. Now, it was time to return, but locating our original path became a challenge. Every trail looked the same, and we were disoriented in the jungle. After more than an hour of searching with heavy water pots, we eventually found our way back, warning the next group about the tricky route.

With that task complete, it was our turn to take over cooking duties. After a few hours of preparation, our lunch was ready, and we savored the meal. As the day progressed, we relaxed in various ways – some sang songs, some made plans, and some took a much-needed nap. I, on the other hand, found myself captivated by the beauty of the mountains and the grandeur of nature. The view was truly beyond words, and I couldn't help but admire the divine creation.

Relaxation
As the sky began to change colours, transitioning from gold to red, violet, and countless other shades, my eyes were fixated on the spectacle. The sky darkened, and the sun disappeared below the horizon.

We had prepared extra food to avoid work during the night. Suddenly, we noticed a massive moon rising over the woods. The view was priceless, filling our hearts with contentment. We spent the night in a jhum ghar, surrounded by mountains, singing songs, and immersed in the tranquillity that urban life can seldom offer. We wished this night could last forever, but reality called us forward. We looked ahead to the next leg of our adventurous journey – a visit to Jadipai Waterfall, referred to as the queen of waterfalls in Bangladesh.
