Hello friends, how are you?
I haven't written here for a few days, I only found time this morning to tell you a little about how I spent my weekend, it was also very busy because I had so many events to organise, October like September is also very busy for me, but this also gives me the chance to see unique and special places.
For example, on Saturday comma, during a cycling event that took place in Rosà in the province of Vicenza, I was able to see Villa Dolfin for the first time, a beautiful villa belonging to the Venetian family of the same name, which is located just 5 km from Bassano del Grappa comma and which is one of the many Venetian villas there are, some of which I had already shown you in another post I had made.
This villa was built by the Dolfin family, around 1700, as I had explained in another post, many Venetian noble families built villas in the countryside precisely to escape the danger of disease that often struck Venice.
In short, these were the places where the nobles spent their holidays, also because you have to understand that Venice in summer was hit by torrid heat, so there was a certain relief in temperature in these places.
The barchessa, practically the part that was used by the stables and to put the carriages in, was built a few years later and completed the entire villa complex.
In the villa complex, there is also a large park, inside which I found some beautiful geese that I photographed.
Unfortunately, I could not do an in-depth exploration of the park, this was due to time constraints and because I was busy with the event, the same goes for the villa which is practically closed and is only opened on certain Sundays, but I honestly did not understand who the owner is.
The mysterious thing is that we don't even know who built this villa, I tried to do some research and see if there are any plaques but I couldn't find anything.
From what I understand, it belongs to two private families. If you would like more information about this villa, I leave below the website I found which explains a little about the history of this villa but also gives some interesting information.
You should also know that during the Great War, which took place in the mountains above Bassano in 1918, this villa was the headquarters, I think, of the Fourth Army, and King Emanuel the Third of Savoy also stayed here.
Thank you if you have made it through the post, up to this point, see you at the next one, I hope you found my story very interesting, and I also thank you for the support you always give me in the posts.
