Hello everyone, community friends! During these days off from work, I had the opportunity to do some tourism and visit some villas. As many of you know, I am passionate about architecture and I really enjoy exploring these historic buildings during my leisure time. If you are interested in villas and architecture, I highly recommend visiting these wonderful places.

Villa Godi is a historic villa located in Lugo di Vicenza, in Veneto, Italy. It was designed by architect Andrea Palladio, considered one of the most important architects of the Italian Renaissance, and built for brothers Gerolamo, Pietro, and Marcantonio Godi. Construction of the villa began in 1537 and was completed in 1542, with subsequent modifications made to the entrance and gardens at the rear.

I had the opportunity to visit a villa that left a strong impression on me, both for its beauty and for its perfect conditions. I was struck by the fact that this villa is often used for special events like weddings and parties. In fact, it is possible to book the villa to organize these types of events. It is a truly enchanting place, perfect for celebrating special occasions.

During World War I, Villa Godi Malinverni hosted several army units and the head of the British General Staff established his headquarters here. Additionally, the Prince of Wales stayed for several months in this villa.

In 1996, Villa Godi Malinverni was included on the UNESCO World Heritage list in recognition of its historical and architectural importance. Today, it is open to the public and hosts various exhibitions of contemporary art, as well as cultural events such as concerts and conferences. It is also possible to visit the garden, which has been faithfully reproduced based on descriptions from the time. The villa is considered an important example of Renaissance architecture in Veneto and an important tourist attraction in the area.

The villa is open to the public and offers the opportunity to visit nine frescoed salons, all kept in perfect condition. Among these, the central salon stands out, with a height of 9 meters and ceiling decorations in coffers. The artists who worked on the interior decoration of the villa are mentioned by Andrea Palladio in his "Four Books of Architecture" and are: Gualtiero Padovano, Battista Del Moro, and Giovanni Battista Zelotti.

The interiors of the villa feature a unique characteristic, as they host two distinct and distinctively different painting schools, despite being contemporary. The classical school and the mystic school coexist harmoniously in the villa, distinguished mainly by the themes dealt with in the paintings and the colors used. The villa therefore represents a unique example of coexistence between two different artistic currents.

The Museum of Fossils of Lugo di Vicenza, founded in 1852 by Count Andrea Piovene, is a structure that houses over 300 fossils found by geologist Achille de Zigno in the vicinity of Chiavon. Among these, the longest fossil palm in the world stands out, complete with roots and leaves, measuring a whopping 9 meters.

The museum was recently renovated in 2006 by ProLugo (Pro loco of Lugo). Today it is open to the public and offers the opportunity to learn about the history of the Earth through the exhibited fossils. It is an interesting destination for both paleontology enthusiasts and those who want to learn more about the history of our planet.

Villa Godi Malinverni has also been used as a location for cinema. In 1953, some scenes from Luchino Visconti's film "Senso" were shot in this villa. Additionally, in 2013 it hosted a television show for the main Korean broadcaster.

It is undeniable that Villa Godi Malinverni is a very fascinating location for shooting films and television series. The beauty of the building and the garden, as well as its history, make it an ideal place to set productions of various genres. It is therefore not surprising that some American producers have expressed interest in shooting a TV series inside. This is an opportunity to make this wonderful villa even more known to a large and international audience.

If you are planning a trip to Italy and are interested in history, art, and architecture, Villa Godi Malinverni is a must-see. In addition to being a beautiful Renaissance villa, it also houses an important fossil museum and a small museum dedicated to World War I, which had a sad ending in these areas.

I would like to share one last piece of information about the villa visit: the ticket price is €10, which in my opinion represents an excellent value for the heritage you have the opportunity to admire. Additionally, a small booklet will be given to you as a gift that will guide you to discover the most important points of interest in the villa. If you are passionate about architecture and history, I highly recommend visiting Villa Godi Malinverni, one of the Palladian villas in Veneto included on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
