Hello dear Hivers,

This was our first visit to Maui. It was summertime, a week-long vacation with family, full of adventure and quality bonding time. Maui is one of the four major islands in Hawaii, the absolute paradise for sun, sand, and fun.

Although more laid back than the other islands, Maui has the most gorgeous beaches, glorious landscapes, beautiful sunrises, and romantic sunsets. We waited for the sunrise, basked in the sun, and wine-and-dined at nighttime. We had fun!

Where We Stayed

We booked our stay at the Ka’anapali Beach Club in Lahaina, a timeshare that entitles us to use the property for a whole week every year. It is a beachfront resort with a lagoon-style outdoor pool, landscaped garden, an indoor gym, and other cool amenities. We were checked into two spacious suites each with two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. One unit had an awesome ocean view, while the other one fronted the lush garden. Really cool!

But tropical as it is, it was hot in Maui. The following morning, we hit the pool as soon as it opened. We just soaked in for hours, swam, and played like crazy.

Some of us went for a morning walk before sunrise on the “private beach” of the Ka’anapali Club. Since it was still early, it was practically empty and we hardly bumped into anybody. But it was a short stretch of beach and brown sand.

The sand is brown but it was soft

At the Ka’anapali Beach

By midmorning, we ventured out in search of the famed powder-sand beaches; we drove to nearby Ka’anapali Beach. It was crowded! Some of us stayed in the sand, but our guys, ready with their snorkeling gear, went deeper into the water and into the corals. They spotted some fish and turtles. That was a day full of excitement!

The Road to Hana

The next day’s adventure took us to the famous long- and- winding Road to Hana, a 60-mile road trip of hairpin curves, waterfalls, scenic coastal views, and lush vegetation. We started our drive at 7 AM.

We made several stops along the way to take pictures and dip into the waterfalls.

At the end of our seemingly interminable car ride to Hana, we began our two-mile hike up to Waimoku Falls, Maui’s tallest waterfall. We followed the trail past bamboo forests, wooden bridges, and banyan trees. at times in sweltering heat. It must have taken us two hours to reach the top, although the younger ones just whizzed by us.

Finally at Waimoko Falls after a 2-mile uphill climb! So we finally reached the Waimoku Falls, cascading down from a cliff.

We were so close to the water, we were getting sprayed wet! So refreshing!

Then.. we started our descent, down another two miles of forest trees, bridges, and waterfalls. Once we reached the bottom, at the parking lot, the rain poured! It rained cats and dogs! But we loved it! It was part of the whole experience!

Sunrise at Mt Haleakala

Our next Maui adventure was watching the sunrise atop Mt Haleakala, a dormant volcano at 10,00 feet above sea level. Source

We took a bus trip to the top which included a bike for a ride down the mountain after the sunrise. The bus picked us up at 3 AM. We were advised to wear warm clothes because it could get cold at the top, even in the summertime. It was difficult to get a good spot at the top. With so many people around we stood almost elbow to elbow, and eagerly awaited for the sun to light up the dark sky. Then, drums rolled and the sun made its majestic appearance.

It was truly a spectacular sight. The early wake-up call was worth our while.

Downhill Bike Ride

After sunrise, the bus picked us up and took us to this place where the guys will begin the exhilarating downhill bike ride. It was a guided ride. But me. I stayed on the bus. I did not join the bike ride. Did everyone enjoy the ride? Some did. Some are not quite. Apparently, the bike rides were in groups, so the speed of descent depended on the slowest biker, and there were a few mishaps. But we all got back to the Club.. unscathed.

Black Rock Beach

We spent the rest of our Maui trip beach hopping. We went to Black Rock Beach, which is at the north end of Ka’anapali beach. The big boys dived into the cliffs and went parasailing, and we watched on the sidelines.

The Luau

We capped our Maui trip with a luau, the famous traditional Hawaiian feast, complete with food and entertainment, and a ceremony that unearthed a whole kalua pig from the ground, where it has been cooked to perfection in an underground pit called an imu.

 " "luau2.jpg""

The luau was a night filled with good food, the beat of bongo drums, lively music, and Hawaiian dance, in the happy company of family. It was truly a night to remember. This was our last night in Maui. Luau pics

The view is breathtaking, so beautiful and the water is so clear.. I would like to swim in one of the beaches and experience to see underneath with the goggles, maybe the low area would be for me, lol. That is a long walk to the Falls and probably exhausting, but it paid in the end to reach the Falls...

The waters were clear it was fun to swim. The hike to the falls was somewhat tiring we have to stop one in a while to rest and enjoy the lush forest and banyan trees. But when we reached the top, it was all worth it the waterfalls so majestic you can hear the roar of the waters as it go down and get sprayed with it.

What a beautiful place on earth! How I wish to be able to see it in person😇
