In the middle of summer, I had no plans for Saturday. And since I couldn't sleep at night due to the warm weather and woke up around 4 in the morning, I thought I could go somewhere for a day trip. I looked at the map and checked the train departures from Praha Smíchov station, I again chose the city of Zdice as the starting destination. But this time with a plan to go to the steppe areas of the Czech Karst instead of the forests.
Uprostřed léta jsem neměl žádný plán na sobotní den. A jelikož jsem díky teplému počasí nemohl v noci spát a probudil jsem se kolem 4 hodiny ráno.Vymyslel jsem, že bych mohl vyrazit někam na jednodenní výlet. Podíval jsem se do mapy a zkontroloval odjezdy vlaků z nádraží Praha Smíchov jako startovní destinaci jsem opět zvolil město Zdice. Ale tentokrát s plánem místo do lesů vyrazit do stepních oblastí Českého krasu.
As soon as I got out of the railway station in Zdice, I knew the theme of this trip. Nature and industry, which have been intertwined in this area since time immemorial. So the very first photo was a historic industrial building that had been beautifully renovated.
Hned jak jsem vylezl z nádraží ve Zdicích věděl jsem do bude téma tohoto výletu. Příroda a industriál, které se v této oblasti už od nepaměti prolíná. Takže hned první fotografie byla historická průmyslová budova, která byla krásně zrekonstruována.
After a short journey up the hill, views began to appear behind me and in front of me. First to the town of Zdice and then to the valley around the village of Slavíky.
Po krátké cestě do kopce se za mnou i předemnou začaly objevovat výhledy. Nejprve na město Zdice a pak do údolí kolem obce Slavíky.
Since I knew that there are a lot of insects living in the karst area, I also equipped myself with a macro ring for this trip to try to find some interesting species. Well, since it was relatively windy, it was not easy and I only managed to take a picture of the Common Spindle (Zygalna filipendulae), which I learned on the information boards is poisonous. And then one butterfly Marbled (Melanargia).
Protože jsem věděl, že v oblasti krasu žije velké množství hmyzu vybavil jsem se pro tento výlet i makro kroužkem, abych se pokusil najít nějaké zajímavé druhy. No ale protože bylo poměrně větrno tak to nebylo jednoduché a podařilo se mi vyfotit pouze Vřetenušku obecnou (Zygalna filipendulae), o které jsem se na informační tabuli dozvěděl, že je jedovatá. A pak jednoho motýla Okáče.
And these animals live in this landscape.
A v této krajině si tito živočichové žijí.
The first interesting place was Koukola mountain (471m) where there was supposed to be a lookout point at the top, but the trees are already grown and you can hardly see the surroundings. Furthermore, there is a semicircular chapel at the top, where there is a picture inside. So I found it quite scary.
Prvním zajímavým místem byla Koukolova hora (471m) kde na vrcholu měla být vyhlídka, ale stromy jsou už vzrostlé a tak skoro není vidět do okolí. Dále je na vrcholu půlkruhová kaple kde je uvnitř obraz. Mě teda přišel dosti děsivý.
The area around the peak was mined for limestone in the past, but as you can see, nature has already taken back what belongs to it. There are also several small caves and a small campsite under the overhang.
Okolí vrcholu bylo v minulosti odtěženo kvůli vápenci, ale jak se vidět příroda si již vzala zpět co jí náleží. Je zde i několik malých jeskyní a také malé tábořiště pod převisem.
Someone here even drew prehistoric animals with charcoal from the fire. Well, except for the bear, he didn't do very well. :)
Někdo zde dokonce uhlíkem z ohniště nakreslil prehistoriská zvířata. Tedy kromě medvěda ten se moc nepovedl. :)
On the way to the next place I had planned to visit, a train with lime crossed my path, which again reminded me of the topic of the day.
Cestou k dalšímu místu, které jsem měl v plánu navštívit mi cestu zkřížil vlak s vápnem což mi opět připomenulo téma dne.
From the spring near Havlíčková mýln, where I refreshed myself with fresh spring water, I had to climb to the largest rock gate of the Czech Karst, which is called the Axamite gate after the geologist who discovered it. It was created by the collapse of a cave, which happens quite often in karst areas.
Od pramene u Havlíčkova mlýna kde jsem se osvěžil čerstvou pramenitou vodou jsem musel vystoupat k největší skalní bráně Českého krasu, která se jmenuje Axamitova brána podle geologa, který ji objevil. Vznikla propadem jeskyně což se stává v krasových oblastech poměrně často.
Above the gate lies the steppe area of Kotýz, where there is another cave and a rock bridge. A tablet with a picture of an ibex was found in the cave, so this area was inhabited by people quite a long time ago.
Nad bránou se rozkládá stepní oblast Kotýz kde je další jeskyně a skalní most. V jeskyni byla nalezena destička s obrázkem kozorožce, takže tato oblast byla lidmi osídlena již poměrně dávno.
When I tried to get to a place where you could take a good photo of the rock bridge, which required some light rock climbing. More than the bridge, I was interested in the crystalic limestone that was on the walls of the chasm. The bridge was backlit or the cement factory below the hill was entering my frame.
Když jsem se pokusil dostat se do místa odkud by se dal dobře vyfotit skalní most, což vyžadovalo i nějaké to lehké lezení po skalách. Více než most mě zaujal krystalický vápenec, který byl na stěnách průrvy. Most byl v protisvětle a nebo mi do záběru vstupovala cementárna pod kopcem.
This entire place is adjacent to the largest limestone quarry in the territory of Bohemia and is called the Čertovy schody (Devil's Stairs).
Celé toto místo sousedí s největším vápencovým lomem na území Čech a jmenuje se velkolom Čertovy schody.
There are many reminders in the area that limestone was mined and processed here some time ago. In the surrounding forests there are the remains of a railway or an old lime distillery.
V okolí je spousta připomínek, že se zde vápenec těžil a zpracovával již před nějakou dobou. Po okolních lesích jsou pozůstatky železnice nebo staré palírny vápna.
There is also the large complex of karst caves (Koněpruské jeskyně), which was discovered thanks to mining. I had originally planned to visit the caves, but there were quite a few visitors that day and the waiting time was around two hours. So instead of going to the cave, I went to the top of the hill called the Zlatý kůň (Golden Horse - 475m).
Je zde i velký komplex krasových jeskyní (Koněpruské jeskyně), který byl objeven právě díky těžbě. Původně jsem měl v plánu jeskyně navštívil, ale ten den bylo poměrně dost návštěvníků a čekací doba bylo něco kolem dvou hodin. A tak jsem místo do jeskyně vyrazil na vrchol kopce s názvem Zlatý kůň (475m).
From the top, I headed along the learning nature trail to the former quarries, which are between the current quarry and the caves. The Houbův and Hergetův quarries are currently visited mainly by fossil hunters, so you definitely won't enjoy the silence, as you will constantly hear the tapping of gological hammers.
Z vrcholu jsem zamířil po naučné stezce do bývalých lomů, které jsou mezi současným lomem a jeskyněmi. Houbův a Hergetův lom jsou v současné době navštěvovány především lovci fosilií, takže si rozhodně neužijete ticha, protože neustále uslyšíte ťukání geologických kladívek.
The lower parts of the quarries are gradually occupied by heat-loving plants such as hawthorn or juniper and thus create ecosystems that cannot be found in other places in Bohemia.
Spodní části lomů postupně obsazují teplomilné rostliny jako je například hloh, nebo jalovec a tím vytváří ekosystémy, které na jiných místech v Čechách nenajdeme.
The next place I planned to visit was Na Kobyle quarry. Where there are several other caves. The quarry is currently a very popular destination among climbers which I did not know and was quite surprised by the noise from the quarry as I descended down into the quarry.
Dalším místem, které jsem měl v plánu navštívit byl lom na Kobyle. Kde je několik dalších jeskyní. Lom je v současnosti velmi vyhledávanou destinací mezi horolezci což jsem nevěděl a byl jsem dosti překvapen hlukem z lomu, když jsem sestupoval dolu do lomu.
You can get to the quarry either by a steep descent or through a tunnel, which was definitely more pleasant.
Do lomu se dá dostat buď prudkým sestupem a nebo tunelem což bylo rozhodně příjemnější.
After I left the quarry and entered into the open country, I found out that a fairly strong storm was approaching, so I had to adjust my plan and get to a place where I could hide from the rain as quickly as possible. Therefore, I headed to the village of Tobolka for local refreshment stall, but unfortunately they had no place to hide, so I had to survive for over an hour in the bus stop with a female cyclist and another tourist who, like me, were caught off guard by the rain. Originally, I wanted to continue further to Zadní Třebáň, but due to the fact that another storm was coming, I adjusted the route and took the fastest route to the village of Srbsko, from where the train to Prague leaves.
Po té co jsem opustil lom a vylezl do otevřené krajiny zjistil jsem, že se blíží poměrně silná bouřka a tak jsem musel přizpůsobit plán a dostat se do nejrychleji do místa kde bych se mohl před deštěm schovat. Proto jsem zamířil do vesnice Tobolka k místnímu občerstvení, ale zde bohužel neměli žádné místo ke schování se a tak jsem musel přežít přes hodinu v zastávce autobusu s cyklistkou a dalším turistou, kteří byly jako já zaskočeni deštěm. Původně jsem chtěl pokračovat dále do Zadní Třebáně, ale vzhledem k tomu, že měla přijít další bouřka jsem cestu upravil a šel nejrychlejší cestou do vesnice Srbsko odkud jede vlak do Prahy.
