Welcome to the next installment of the Gran Canaria Travels series. In the last part, we finished our trek across the entire island, and in today's part, we will look at how we headed to the town of Teror, located in the mountains.

The first thing we had to do after waking up in the morning was to make our way through endless banana and papaya plantations. Which was something for Mammoth, who really hates bananas.
První co jsme museli ráno absolvovat po probuzení, bylo probít se nekonečnými banánovými a papájovými plantážemi. Což bylo něco pro Mamuta, který banány bytostně nesnáší.
Once we managed to get to the town of La Atalaya. It was finally time to have breakfast on the square in the city center near the shop where we bought breakfast. The boys had the classic pastry with salami and cheese and pickled carrots. And instead of pastries, I had a completely overripe papaya that was incredibly sweet. After breakfast, we took the shortest possible route around the coast to the place from where we wanted to start climbing to Teror. First we had to walk along the side of the road until we came across a hiking trail that we didn't have on the map. She took us through the highway tunnel and later under the highway to a former village on a cliff overlooking the ocean.
Jakmile se nám podařilo dostat se do města La Atalaya. Byl čas se konečně nasnídat na náměstí v centru města nedaleko obchodu, kde jsme snídani nakoupili. Kluci měli klasicky pečivo se salámem, sýrem a nakládanou mrkví. A já jsem místo pečiva měl naprosto přezrálou papáju, která byla neuvěřitelně sladká. Po snídani jsme se vydali nejkratší možnou cestou kolem pobřeží k místu, odkud jsme chtěli začít stoupat na Teror. Nejprve jsme museli jít po kraji silnice, až do doby než jsme narazili na turistickou stezku, kterou jsme neměli v mapě. Ta nás provedla dálničním tunelem, dále vedla pod dálnicí až k bývalé vesnici na útesu, odkud byl výhled na oceán.
As soon as we got back to the coast, we started looking for a restaurant in the villages where we could have lunch. We were unsuccessful in San Felipe and El Pagador. Only in San Andrés did we manage to find such a place. It was a pizzeria on the main road. But they had cold beer on tap and a pretty decent selection of pizzas. With this order, we fulfilled the test we set ourselves, which was to have as many dishes as possible that the locals eat. But after the meal, there was a small problem, none of us wanted to go up the hill towards the town of Teror in the heat outside. So we agreed to go by bus. Which in the end turned out to be the best solution, because the bus cost 2 Euros per person and the bus dropped us off in the center of Teror in less than an hour, instead of walking for more than a day up the hill through the banana plantation.
Jakmile jsme se dostali zpět na pobřeží, začali jsme ve vesnicích hledat nějakou restauraci kde by jsme si mohli dát oběd. V San Felipe a El Pagador jsme byli neúspěšní. Teprve v San Andrés se nám takové místo podařilo najít. Byla to pizzérie u hlavní silnice. Ale měli studené točené pivo a docela slušný výběr pizz. Touto objednávkou jsme splnili zkoušku, kterou jsme si dali a tím bylo mít co nejvíce pokrmů co jí místní. Ale po jídle nastal malý problém. ikomu z nás se ve vedru které venku panovalo nechtělo jít do kopce směrem na město Teror. A tak jsme se dohodli, že pojedeme autobusem. Což se nakonec ukázalo jako nejlepší řešení, protože autobus stál 2 Eura na osobu a v centru Teroru nás bus vyhodil ani ne za hodinu, místo toho aby jsme šli více jak den do kopce skrze banánové plantáže.
As was customary, the friends headed to the nearest bar and ordered a beer. I just had one with them and headed out to explore the city center. Because it felt like a shame not to know this city that was full of history. And I can also boast that I experienced the real Christmas Teror. As soon as it got dark I picked up my colleagues at the bar and we headed somewhere in the dark to find a place to spend the night.
Jak už bylo zvykem kamarádi zamířili do nejbližšího baru a objednali pivo. Dal jsem si s nimi jen jedno a zamířil na průzkum centra města. Protože mi příšlo škoda nepoznat toto město, které bylo plné historie. A navíc se můžu pochlubit, že jsem zažil skutečný Vánoční Teror. Jakmile se setmělo vyzvedl jsem kolegy v baru a zamířili jsme kamsi do tmy hledat místo na přenocování.
