Hola amigos de Pinmapple, esta es mi primera publicación en esta comunidad y me contenta demasiado contarles de mi último viaje.
Mi esposo y yo somos venezolanos viviendo en Bogotá hace año y medio. Teníamos muchas ganas de conocer Cartagena y no escapamos tres días libres a conocer la ciudad y la costa colombiana.
Viajamos en avión consiguiendo una promoción de vuelos ida y vuelta. Reservamos en el hotel Gio de Cartagena, económico y la verdad bastante bonito para su precio.
Lo primero que sentimos al llegar fue el calor que nos invadió, teniendo más de un año en Bogotá donde hace bastante frío, el calor se siente más intenso.
Hello Pinmapple friends, this is my first post in this community and I am very happy to tell you about my last trip.
My husband and I are Venezuelan and we have been living in Bogota for a year and a half. We really wanted to visit Cartagena and we took three days off to visit the city and the Colombian coast.
We traveled by plane getting a round trip flight promotion. We booked at the hotel Gio de Cartagena, economic and really quite nice for its price.
The first thing we felt when we arrived was the heat that invaded us, having more than a year in Bogota where it is quite cold, the heat feels more intense.
Nuestra primera parada fue en el Barrio Bocagrande. Es la "ciudad nueva" y la zona hotelera de Cartagena. Le dicen ciudad nueva porque existe la "ciudad vieja" donde están todas las construcciones antiguas de la ciudad.
En Bocagrande están la mayoría de los hoteles de lujo y los de menos lujo. Casi todos tienen vista al mar, aunque las playas de esta zona no son las más bonitas.
Ahí pasamos la primera tarde de nuestra llegada, nos sentamos frente al mar y vimos el bonito atardecer que nos dio la bienvenida.
Our first stop was in Barrio Bocagrande. It is the "new city" and the hotel zone of Cartagena. They call it the new city because there is the "old city" where all the old buildings of the city are located.
In Bocagrande are most of the luxury and less luxury hotels. Almost all of them have ocean views, although the beaches in this area are not the most beautiful.
There we spent the first afternoon of our arrival, we sat in front of the sea and watched the beautiful sunset that welcomed us.
Al llegar la noche nos fuimos a caminar un poco hacía la ciudad vieja. Un taxi nos llevó por 7000 mil pesos, que vendría siendo menos de dos dolares.
Quería tomar una foto de la muralla que cubre toda esa zona de la ciudad pero no fue posible.
Lo cierto es que esta zona es muy bonita, y se pueden ver muchos lugares para comer de lujo y otros muy tradicionales.
Esta zona se llena mucho de turistas y también hay paseo en carreta con caballos por toda la zona.
At nightfall we went for a short walk to the old city. A cab took us for 7000 thousand pesos, which is less than two dollars.
I wanted to take a picture of the wall that covers the whole area of the city but it was not possible.
The truth is that this area is very nice, and you can see many places to eat luxury and other very traditional.
This area is very crowded with tourists and there are also horse and cart rides all over the area.
En nuestro segundo día de aventura cartagenera, decidimos tomar una lancha hasta isla Barú, específicamente a playa Tranquila. Nos habían recomendado este lugar ya que es muy bello el mar.
Desde el muelle "La bodeguita", salen las lanchas a distintos lugares. Los precios no son nada accesibles. La ciudad esta programada para extranjeros y los costos son elevados. Tomamos nuestro viaje particular sin tour porque de verdad nos parecía muy caro.
La lancha se tarde aproximadamente 40 min hasta playa Tranquila.
Es un mar cristalino con unos bellos tonos de azul. Hay restaurantes costeros a la orilla de la playa y toldos con camas y sillas para protegerse del sol.
On our second day of adventure in Cartagena, we decided to take a boat to Baru Island, specifically to Tranquila beach. This place had been recommended to us because the sea is very beautiful.
From the pier "La Bodeguita", boats leave to different places. The prices are not at all accessible. The city is programmed for foreigners and the costs are high. We took our private trip without a tour because it seemed very expensive.
The boat takes about 40 minutes to Tranquila beach.
It is a crystal clear sea with beautiful shades of blue. There are seaside restaurants on the beach and awnings with beds and chairs to protect you from the sun.
Esa noche llegamos absolutamente agotados. Un baño, comer y a descansar para el último día que teníamos en la costa.
Al amanecer caminamos largamente por el paseo peatonal de Bocagrande, admirando la bella arquitectura moderna. La verdad me sorprende ver una ciudad playera con tantos edificios, en Venezuela no suele ser así.
Al final del paseo llegamos a una playita, y pasamos las últimas horas antes de nuestro vuelo de regreso.
Aprovechamos para darnos un baño en la playa y disfrutar del lunes tranquilo. La mayoría de los turistas se habían ido y todo estaba bastante sereno.
That night we arrived absolutely exhausted. A swim, eat and rest for the last day we had on the coast.
At dawn we took a long walk along the pedestrian promenade of Bocagrande, admiring the beautiful modern architecture. The truth surprises me to see a beach city with so many buildings, in Venezuela it is not usually like that.
At the end of the walk we reached a small beach, and spent the last hours before our return flight.
We took the opportunity to take a swim at the beach and enjoy the quiet Monday. Most of the tourists had left and everything was quite serene.
Tres días no son suficientes para conocer todo lo que esta ciudad de Colombia tiene para ofrecer.
Pero nos regresamos contentos de conocer otro lugar de este país, felices de disfrutar de la playa y agradecidos por el calorcito del sol.

Three days are not enough to see all that this Colombian city has to offer.
But we came back happy to know another place in this country, happy to enjoy the beach and grateful for the warmth of the sun.
