It must have been a truly wonderful experience. I was really struck by your description, including the noises, the smells of spices, the colors, and the street life. I think that the very encounter with cultures so different from our own is one of the most interesting aspects of traveling. Zanzibar is a very popular place, but from the photos I notice that it lacks the urban culture found in Europe... it seems like a place where evolution is slow.

It was a wonderful experience and discovering other cultures is indeed very interesting.
Compared to Europe, Tanzania can definitely feel less developed. There also seem to be less rules. At least, there are rules, but a lot of people just do as they like. It seems less structures, less controlled than what we've used to.
