Hey Hive!
If you missed the last couple of posts, I just finished recounting our trip back in early Feb 2019 when we went to visit Malacca during Chinese New Year for my cousin's wedding! It was a very lovely wedding and it was also nice to see what a traditional Chinese wedding looks like! While it was just a short weekend trip, we also got to enjoy a lot of delicious food!
So about a week after this trip, we actually traveled to Japan which I wrote about last time already. It was our Valentines' trip to an area outside of Tokyo and we explored Yokohama and Mt Fuji too! My bad, I screwed up the dates but oh well.
The next trip after that was in March 2019, when we visited Kuala Lumpur! I used to go there quite a bit since my relatives live there but it'd been a while. And Seany had an event to attend so we decided to go for a short trip to visit friends and family too!
15 March 2019. Friday.
The new Changi Airport Terminal 4 had opened pretty recently and we would be taking our flight from there for the first time!
We had lunch at one of our favourite Western casual restaurants, ASTONS! And we bought our usual chargrilled chicken with a baked potato and corn on the cob. We weren't too hungry at the time so we just shared it and picked bigger sides.
It was really delicious and surprisingly filling! The chicken was tender and juicy and the brown sauce that went with it paired really well! The corn was also nice and buttery and the baked potato was soft and moist too! The potato skin wasn't that edible though since it was really dry but I guess they didn't intend for people to eat that.
After that we went to explore more of the terminal and the departure area since we've never been past the border since the terminal opened.
Just like the rest of Changi Airport, it was lovely! With some indoor greenery, a bunch of luxury boutiques and souvenir shops. The waiting area was what impressed us the most though! With a traditional Peranakan design at the back blending with the shops below, it was really a unique sight!
Even the furnishings had a touch of traditional design mixed with modernity. It didn't feel like we were in an airport at all! This is the true display of the Best Airport in the world.
They even had these cute stone animals? I feel like I've seen these in some architecture feature or something but they looked sort of cute I guess.
After walking around for a bit it was time for us to head to our gate! It looked pretty normal and similar to the other gates we've seen in Changi and soon we were on the plane! The actual flight only took 1 hour so there wasn't much to photograph.
By the time we reached the hotel it was 5pm! We were staying at Hotel Armada in Petaling Jaya as the event that we were going to attend was in the hotel across the street. But I think that actual hotel was slightly more expensive?
Either way, Hotel Armada was really nice and comfortable too! Just look at the lobby restroom!
The hotel room was simple but open and spacious! It's definitely very different compared to Japan hotel rooms and it was really clean and comfy.
And most importantly, the air conditioning was good. It was really hot outside as usual so we were relieved to be here.
We had a friend who lived in KL who offered to come and take us out for dinner! He had a car too so it was really convenient and we invited him to come and check out our hotel room while we decided on where to go to eat.
Eventually he decided to bring us to the famous Village Park Restaurant! We've never been there before but apparently it was pretty well-known for their local fare.

The only trouble with the place might be parking since it's street parking just outside the restaurant and there are limited lots of course. Luckily we manage to get a lot right by the restaurant!

We decided to try their normal Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng and Sean wanted to try their Assam Laksa as well. It didn't take long for our food to arrive after we ordered
And here was our Nasi Lemak, which looked so crispy and delicious! The chili was just the right amount of spice, the chicken was crispy and juicy and the rice had a nice coconut fragrance and taste!
and the Assam Laksa, which had quite a soury aroma. I wasn't too big a fan of the sour assam taste but it was still pretty nice and savoury. It was already hot outside so I didn't want to eat too much hot soup though.
I definitely liked the Nasi Lemak better but overall it was a wonderful and delicious meal! Definitely satisfying after we hadn't eaten since before our flight! After that our friend had something else to do so he dropped us off at 1Utama mall which was near our hotel and we walked around and had some snacks! I didn't take any pictures though so I think I'll end it here.
