I woke up around 5 in the morning, when the town was still quiet and wrapped in a soft chill. My cousins and I decided to set out on foot from home, and as we walked through the winding roads, I couldn’t resist capturing a few moments. We were on our way to the ridge, it's an open space in the middle of twon.The streets were almost empty, with just a few people slowly starting their day. The scattered dry leaves on the road and the cool air carried a clear sign that fall is approaching.
सुबह के करीब पाँच बजे मेरी आँख खुली। शहर अब भी शांत था और हल्की ठंडक में लिपटा हुआ लग रहा था। मैंने और मेरे कज़िन्स ने घर से पैदल ही निकलने का फ़ैसला किया। घुमावदार रास्तों पर चलते हुए मैं कुछ पल कैमरे में क़ैद किए बिना नहीं रह सका। हम रिज की ओर जा रहे थे, जो शहर के बीचोंबीच एक खुला मैदान है। सड़कें लगभग सूनी थीं, बस कुछ लोग धीरे-धीरे अपने दिन की शुरुआत कर रहे थे। रास्ते पर बिखरे हुए सूखे पत्ते और ठंडी हवा साफ़ बता रहे थे कि पतझड़ अब पास ही है।
In the first picture, there’s a taxi going somewhere, most likely called by someone who needed to head out early.
पहली तस्वीर में एक टैक्सी कहीं जाती हुई नज़र आ रही है, शायद किसी ने उसे सुबह-सुबह कहीं जाने के लिए बुलाया होगा।
All the street vendors’ carts were still shut, covered with tarpaulins. They were to open only after a couple of hours.
सड़क किनारे लगे सारे ठेले अभी बंद थे, उन पर तिरपाल ढका हुआ था। ये ठेले दो–तीन घंटे बाद ही खुलने वाले थे।
When the streets are empty, the attention naturally shifts to the surrounding structures.. something that usually goes unnoticed otherwise.
जब सड़कें खाली होती हैं तो नज़र अपने आप आस-पास की इमारतों और ढाँचों पर चली जाती है, वरना आमतौर पर उतना ध्यान नहीं जाता।
All the roads were covered with leaves from the surrounding trees.
सारी सड़कें आस-पास के पेड़ों की पत्तियों से ढकी हुई थीं।
And finally, we reached the ridge ground.
और आखिरकार हम रिज मैदान पहुँच गए।
In the middle, there was a big dog lying around. We stayed there for two hours, and it stayed just like that the whole time. It looked so funny, and it finally got up only when the garbage truck arrived.
बीच में एक बड़ा कुत्ता लेटा हुआ था। हम वहां दो घंटे रहे और वह भी पूरे दो घंटे ऐसे ही पड़ा रहा। बहुत मज़ेदार लग रहा था, और वह तब उठा जब कचरा उठाने वाली गाड़ी आई।
After two hours, the sunrise was about to happen, and since we wanted to reach home before it, we started heading back. Slowly, more people began to appear, and we could see school children too. It was really fun going there so early in the morning.
दो घंटे बाद सूर्योदय होने ही वाला था, और हम सूर्योदय से पहले घर पहुँचना चाहते थे, इसलिए वापस चल पड़े। धीरे-धीरे लोग भी बढ़ने लगे और स्कूल के बच्चे भी दिखने लगे।सुबह-सुबह वहां जाकर बहुत मज़ा आया।
