A refreshing getaway: Exploring Innsbruck

in Worldmappin8 months ago (edited)

Going on a journey to Innsbruck, Austria, was not initially on my agenda. However, my husband's persuasive reasoning, coupled with the promise of fresh mountain air, convinced me to go on this adventure despite my illness. Little did I know that this trip would turn out to be a remarkable experience filled with breathtaking landscapes, exciting activities, and cherished memories.

After driving for six hours straight, we finally arrived in Innsbruck, greeted by the crisp mountain air. Our camping excursion with friends immersed us in nature's embrace for two blissful days. Surrounded by majestic peaks and beautiful greenery, we reveled in the tranquility that only the mountains can offer. Breathing in the fresh air, I could feel its healing effects on my health, making the journey all the more worthwhile.

Innsbruck is not only known for its natural beauty but also for its vibrant sports scene. Our purpose of the trip was to finally visit Cranxworks event. Through all these years, when we watched all the events on television, it was my husband's wish to see it live.

Cranxworks is an exhilarating event that showcases extreme sports and adrenaline-pumping activities with bikes We especially wanted to see the slopestyle event, and yes, the experience left us speechless. From jaw-dropping stunts to heart-racing competitions, Cranxworks 2023 provided an unforgettable spectacle that added an extra layer of excitement to our trip. My husband finally got his wish and seeing how excited and happy he was to finally see this live, and meet his idols made me realize that the trip was worth it. He was just like a little kid, and seeing this happiness on his face was so blissful for me. After so many months taking care of me, and being by my side it was his time to enjoy a little bit and relax.

We also dedicated time to exploring the city of Innsbruck itself. Its rich history and architectural marvels captivated us as we strolled through the charming streets. The iconic Golden Roof, Hofburg Palace, and the majestic Nordkette mountain range created a scenic setting that left us in awe. Innsbruck's cultural scene is equally vibrant, with a plethora of museums, galleries, and festivals that celebrate art, music, and tradition. The Tyrolean State Museum houses a remarkable collection of regional artifacts, providing insights into the city's cultural heritage. The Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, held annually, attracts renowned musicians from around the world, enchanting audiences with their performances. The city's beautiful old town is a delight to explore, offering a glimpse into the local way of life.

As our time in Innsbruck drew to a close, we embarked on the journey back home, driving through Germany. However, I had only one request, to make a detour and visit Bodensee, also known as Lake Constance. The temptation of swimming in its crystal-clear waters was just impossible to pass up. We spent a blissful afternoon by the lake, soaking up the sun and enjoying local cuisine, savoring the flavors of traditional German dishes, and my husband wanted to try Rheinischer Sauerbraten. This is an extremely popular classic among German specialties. The roast consists of beef that is marinated for several days in a marinade made of wine, vinegar, mustard, and spices such as bay leaf. Raisins, cloves, and juniper berries give this specialty a distinctive sweet and sour taste. Typical side dishes are potato dumplings with applesauce, but they also taste excellent with boiled potatoes or red cabbage. I order Currywurst mit Pommes frites. You need to try this, really. I know, it is not hard to make, but eating this in a true German restaurant is just something else. Einfach lecker. 😉 And of course, I couldn't resist dessert. When you visit Germany, you must try the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, oh this taste. It was the perfect ending to our adventure-filled trip.

Returning home after our Innsbruck escapade, I couldn't help but feel so peaceful. The combination of clear mountain air, thrilling adventures, and the beauty of Innsbruck's cityscape had worked wonders for my well-being. This journey allowed me to temporarily escape the confines of my apartment, embrace nature's wonders, and create cherished memories with loved ones. Innsbruck truly proved to be a haven of tranquility, adventure, and cultural delights, leaving us with a lasting impression and a desire to return in the future.

Thanks to the best husband in the world, I don't know what I would do without you. I love you so much ❤️
