Hello everyone! I hope you had a nice weekend! After I have already showed you a highlight of my home country in the last post, another one follows today. This time my girlfriend and I traveled to the state of Upper Austria to visit the wonderful Attersee with its turquoise blue, crystal clear water and of course to swim in it. How we liked it there, you can read in this post.
Hallo zusammen! Ich hoffe, ihr hattet ein schönes Wochenende! Nachdem ich euch im letzen Beitrag schon ein Highlight meines Heimatlandes vorgestellt habe, folgt heute ein weiteres. Diesmal reisten meine Freundin und ich in das Bundesland Oberösterreich, um den wundervollen Attersee mit seinem türkisblauen, glasklaren Wasser zu besuchen und natürlich auch darin zu baden. Wie es uns dort gefallen hat, lest ihr in diesem Beitrag.
I didn't know it myself for a long time, but the Attersee is actually the largest lake located entirely in Austria. Since it is only a little more than 200km away from my hometown Graz, we were able to reach it via a two and a half hour drive. We chose the beach of Litzlberg and were immediately surprised upon our arrival that the very well-maintained facility can be used completely free of charge. Only the parking lot cost a reasonable price of 5€ for the entire day.
Ich wusste es lange Zeit selbst nicht, doch der Attersee ist tatsächlich der größte See, der sich zur Gänze in Österreich befindet. Da er nur etwas mehr als 200km von meiner Heimatstadt Graz entfernt liegt, konnten wir ihn über eine zweieinhalbstündige Autofahrt erreichen. Wir entschieden uns für das Strandbad Litzlberg und waren bei unserer Ankunft gleich überrascht, dass die sehr gepflegte Anlage völlig kostenlos benutzt werden kann. Lediglich der Parkplatz kostete günstige 5€ für den gesamten Tag.
You can already see it on the photos - this lake offers really incredibly clear water and the color almost creates something like a Carribean feeling. The water temperature was nevertheless pleasantly cool on the day of our visit and provided us with a nice refreshment.
Ihr seht es ja bereits auf den Fotos - dieser See bietet wirklich unglaublich klares Wasser und die Farbe lässt wirklich fast so etwas wie Karbik-Atmosphäre aufkommen. Die Wassertemperatur war am Tag unseres Besuchs trotzdem angenehm frisch und sorgte bei uns für eine wilkommene Abkühlung.
As the swimming day was slowly coming to an end, we decided to visit a small island in the lake, just a few steps from the beach. Unfortunately, we found out that this island is privately owned and not open to the public. So we were left with only a view from the shore and from one of the nearby piers, where numerous sailboats had docked.
Als sich der Badetag langsam dem Ende zuneigte, beschlossen wir, eine kleine Insel im See zu besuchen, die nur wenige Schritte vom Strand entfernt liegt. Leider mussten wir feststellen, dass sich diese Insel in Privatbesitz befindet und nicht für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich ist. So blieb uns nur ein Blick vom Ufer und von einem der nahegelegenen Stege, an dem zahlreiche Segelboote angelegt hatten.
Unfortunately, we did not stay until sunset, which certainly provides a completely different, wonderful atmosphere at the lake. However, the Attersee was definitely worth a visit for us. It is only understandable that many Austrians and Germans spend their vacations here and even prefer the Austrian Caribbean to a trip to the sea.
Leider blieben wir nicht bis zum Sonnenuntergang, der den See sicherlich in eine ganz andere, wundervolle Atmosphäre taucht. Einen Besuch war der Attersee aber für uns auf jeden Fall wert. Es ist nur verständlich, dass viele Österreicher und Deutsche ihren Urlaub hier verbringen und die österreichische Karibik sogar einer Reise ans Meer vorziehen.
