The most beautiful beach in Baja California, the most beautiful beach in Mexico, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world - there are hardly any superlatives I haven't read about this beach. So it was clear to me right from the start that a visit to Balandra Beach would be one of the highlights of our Baja California road trip. In this post, I'll tell you whether this place really is that beautiful and whether it's worth a visit.
Schönster Strand von Baja California, schönster Strand Mexikos, einer der schönsten Strände der Welt – es gibt wohl kaum eine Superlative die ich über diesen Strand nicht gelesen hatte. Somit war für mich von Anfang an klar, dass der Besuch von Balandra Beach eines der Highlights unseres Baja California Roadtrips werden würde. In diesem Beitrag erzähle ich euch, ob dieser Ort wirklich so schön ist und ob sich ein Besuch auszahlt.
If you want to visit this natural jewel, which is about half an hour's drive from La Paz, it is important to plan your arrival carefully. The number of visitors is strictly limited and there are two times of day when you can arrive. We chose the afternoon option from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and arrived at 12.30 p.m. to be on the safe side. We joined the queue of cars and after about half an hour we drove through the entrance gate, got informed about the rules on site and finally reached the car park directly on the beach. Entry and parking are both completely free of charge.
Möchte man dieses Natur-Juwel, das ungefähr eine halbe Autostunde von La Paz entfernt liegt, besuchen, so ist es wichtig seine Ankunft genau zu planen. Die Anzahl der Besucher ist streng limitiert und es gibt zu zwei Tageszeiten, zu denen man Anreisen kann. Wir entschieden uns für die Nachmittagsvariante von 13 Uhr bis 17 Uhr und waren zur Sicherheit bereits um 12.30 vor Ort. Wir reihten uns in die Schlange von Autos ein und nach ungefähr einer halben Stunde fuhren wir durch das Eingangstor, wurden über die Regeln vor Ort informiert und erreichten schließlich den Parkplatz direkt am Strand. Der Eintritt sowie das Parken sind übrigens völlig kostenlos.
When we saw the beach, we were hardly able to stop marvelling. It is characterised by its breathtaking beauty, with shallow, crystal-clear water and impressive rock formations. There were no bars or restaurants on site, just pure nature and we were able to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the natural splendour of the surroundings to the full. The shallow water is not very suitable for swimming, but it is fun to walk in it for hundreds of metres. Sometimes there are also rays in the water, but we didn't see any.
Beim Anblick des Strandes kamen wir aus dem Staunen kaum heraus. Er zeichnet sich durch eine atemberaubende Schönheit aus, mit flachem, kristallklarem Wasser und beeindruckenden Felsformationen. Vor Ort gab es keinerlei Bars oder Restaurants, nur Natur pur und wir konnten die die ruhige Atmosphäre und die natürliche Pracht der Umgebung in vollen Zügen genießen. Das seichte Wasser eignet sich zwar nicht sehr gut zum Schwimmen, doch es macht Spass darin zu hunderte Meter weit zu spazieren. Teilweise tummeln sich auch Rochen darin, doch wir bekamen keinen zu Gesicht.
We were also able to find a shady spot quickly. But not under a tree or parasol. No, some of the rock formations are shaped in such a way that you can sit under them and enjoy the view of the turquoise blue water. Balandra is a huge bay with not just one, but several dream beaches. We discovered another one when we walked along the rock formations through the warm, waist-high water.
Auch ein schattiges Plätzchen konnten wir schnell finden. Doch nicht etwa unter einem Baum oder Sonnenschirm. Nein, die Felsformationen weisen teilweise so geformt, dass man sich daruntersetzen und den Ausblick auf das türkisblaue Wasser genießen kann. Balandra ist übrigens eine riesige Bucht, die über nicht nur einen, sondern gleich mehrere Traumstrände verfügt. Einen weiteren entdeckten wir, als wir an den Felsformationen entlang durch das warme, hüfthohe Wasser spazierten.
There is also a viewpoint from which you can look out over the entire bay, but we just wanted to relax after the adventurous experiences of the last few days, so we decided not to make the climb. In the late afternoon, we set off again, as the next highlight of our trip was already waiting for us. In conclusion, I can say that Balandra Beach is a really picturesque place that is perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. For me personally, it's the most beautiful beach I've visited in Mexico so far.
Es gibt auch einen Aussichtspunkt, von dem man die gesamte Bucht überblicken kann, doch wir wollten nach den abenteuerlichen Erlebnissen der letzten Tage einfach mal entspannen, und verzichteten deshalb auf den Aufstieg. Am späten Nachmittag machten wir uns wieder auf den Weg, denn das nächste Highlight unserer Reise wartete bereits auf uns. Abschließend kann ich sagen, dass Balandra Beach ein wirklich malerischer Ort ist, der sich perfekt für Entspannung und Naturgenuss eignet. Für mich persönlich ist es der bisher schönste Strand, den ich in Mexiko besucht habe.
