Hey guys! I'm back in Mexico! This time I decided to visit some interesting places in the extended radius of Mexico City. Together with my girlfriend, who is luckily Mexican and thus makes my traveling life in this exciting country much easier, I started a five-day road trip that was full of adventures and exciting experiences. Our first stop on this journey was the town of Teopoztlán, which I would like to tell you about today.
Hallo Leute! Ich bin wieder zurück in Mexiko! Diesmal habe ich mich dazu entschlossen, einige interessante Orte im erweiterten Umkreis von Mexico City zu besuchen. Gemeinsam mit meiner Freundin, die zum Glück Mexikanerin ist und mir somit das Reiseleben in diesem aufregenden Land viel einfacher macht, startete ich einen fünftägigen Roadtrip, der voller Abenteuer und aufregender Erlebnisse war. Unser erstes Etappenziel auf dieser Reise war die Kleinstadt Teopoztlán, von der ich euch heute berichten möchte.
Tepoztlán is located in the state of Morelos, about 75km south of Mexico City. It took us about 2 hours to get there from the city centre of CDMX. The small town is located in a valley surrounded by mountains and is therefore very popular with hikers. Due to the remote location and the dense vegetation, you literally feel like you are in a jungle village here sometimes.
Tepoztlán befindet sich im Bundesstaat Morelos, ungefähr 75km südlich von Mexico City. Für die Anreise aus dem Stadtzentrum von CDMX brauchten wir ungefähr 2 Stunden. Die Kleinstadt befindet sich in einem Tal, umgeben von Bergen und ist deshalb besonders bei Wanderern sehr beliebt. Durch die abgeschiedene Lage und die üppige Vegetation fühlt man sich hier manchmal buchstäblich wie in einem Dschungeldorf.
But if you expect a quiet, relaxed atmosphere here, you are completely wrong, because Tepoztlán is anything but an insider's tip, especially among Mexicans. It is impressive to see the crowds of people here. This is especially true for the main street, where there are countless shops, bars and restaurants. On the day of our visit, there was almost a party atmosphere here. It is exactly this combination of idyllic, remote small town in nature and the hustle and bustle that makes this place so unique for me.
Doch wer hier eine ruhige, gemütliche Atmosphäre erwartet, liegt komplett falsch, denn Tepoztlán ist vor allem unter Mexikanern alles andere als ein Geheimtipp. Es ist beeindruckend, welche Menschenmassen sich hier tummeln. Das gilt besonders für die Hauptstraße, an der sich unzählige Shops, Bars und Restaurants befinden. Am Tag unseres Besuchs herrschte hier fast schon Party-Stimmung. Genau diese Kombination aus idyllischer, abgelegener Kleinstadt in der Natur und dem hektischen Treiben, die diesen Ort für mich so einzigartig macht.
Of course, we couldn't resist the many culinary temptations of the town, and tried various Mexican dishes and drinks, some of which were new to me. However, the time was too short for hikes in the mountains and the weather was also too hot. Nevertheless, I was more than fascinated by Tepoztlán and can highly recommend this special place, which, by the way, is one of the famous "Pueblos Magicos". In the next article, I will tell you about our next stop - another Pueblo Magico.
Natürlich konnten wir den vielen kulinarischen Verlockungen der Stadt nicht widerstehen und probierten verschiedene mexikanische Speisen und Getränke, die teilweise neu für mich waren. Für Wanderungen in den Bergen war die Zeit jedoch zu kurz und das Wetter auch zu heiß. Trotzdem war ich mehr als begeistert von Tepoztlán und kann euch diesen besonderen Ort, der übrigens zu den berühmten "Pueblos Magicos" zählt, sehr empfehlen. Im nächsten Beitrag berichte ich euch von unserem darauffolgenden Etappenziel - ebenfalls ein Pueblo Magico.

Hiking or seeing the town a little further away from crowds would be most interesting, taking in the views surrounding the region.

Pretty little town, know myself for crowds, would love a short hike to see from slightly higher. Hiking in any heat is not a great idea either 😀, perhaps next time !ALIVE
