The Citadel, the place where time seems to stand still in Dinant, Belgium

Hello to all my friends in this amazing and welcoming community, from here in Romania I send you my best wishes.

In one of my previous posts I wrote about the experience I had for the first time in Belgium and I showed you the first city I visited here, namely Dinant, the city of the man who invented the saxophone.

I must admit that until I got here I had no idea that the saxophone was invented here.

As I promised you then, today I want us to stay in the small town of Dinant and visit together another emblematic place, the Dinant Citadel.

But before we wander around the city, let me show you what Dinant is known for.

We take a short walk through the picturesque streets, where at every turn we find a planted saxophone - it's the city of the man who invented it.

I think you've figured out that we're going home to the man who invented the saxophone, Adolphe Sax.

The house of the man who invented the saxophone was turned into a museum, we didn't visit it due to lack of time (the entrance was free and you could visit two rooms where different works were exhibited) we were in a hurry to visit the main objective today, Dinant Castle.

If I have amazed you by writing about Adoplhe Sax I should have taken you to see the house-museum.

And today's list also includes the accommodation where we stayed for a few days, here are some pictures of the self check-in apartment.

Let's go to the Citadel ticket office.

Arriving in front of the ticket office, on a board we found two ways to visit Dinant Citadel, we bought a combined ticket Citadel-Teleferic (going up to the citadel)-Steamboat cruise on the Meuse river.

The second option was to visit the citadel and the cable car without a cruise on the river Meuse.

The whole adventure cost us 19 euro/person, an acceptable price in my opinion, if we didn't want to pay the 8 euro/person to ride the cable car we could have walked up the 420 stairs.

Once you get to the top, an amazing view of the city opens up, which may be one of the reasons why you should visit this place.

After a photo session we headed to the museum here which has a lot of exhibits from the Second World War, after visiting it I was really impressed by the way it was organized.

Here we visited dungeons, torture chambers, guillotine and several reproductions of World War II battles.

After spending some time here you surely want a place to rest at least for a few minutes, a place where you can eat something or have a coffee before going down, here is that place up here including a playground for children.

Thank you very much @lizanomadsoul , I'm glad I'm here.

I see that you had typical Belgian weather.. clouds, sun and the same again 😁

I used to live in Belgium for one year, but apparently didn't visit way too many cities there!

Thank you for taking me with you to Dinant!

You're absolutely right, the weather in Belgium I don't even know what it's like anymore, cloudy when rainy when sunny, all in one day.
Thank you very much for visiting😉

Interesante historia, acompañada de hermosas fotografías, ese país tiene sus encanto!.

Gracias por pasarte y me alegro de que te haya gustado mi post.
