Tripping around the Pääsküla bog, Tallinn

in Pinmapple4 years ago (edited)

Was again another warm day. Today a bit colder already.
This is just amazing, or is it the climate change?

This place is one of the most quiet and nice places in Tallinn. Yes, there are people walking, running or cycling here, but not too many usually.

A walk on Pääsküla Bog paths. This bog has these ditches to dry it up for a long time.
But there was much more water here than any other times I've been here.

A few lingonberries could be still found here.

Took a turn to a path, where we saw a training area sign for the Estonian military, so we turned back.

A view from Pääsküla bog observation tower, the view has gotten more boring as the trees have grown taller, and you can't see so much of the bog itself anymore. One thing you can see from here are the 2 highest apartment buildings in Pääsküla area - the twin towers. 😉

Here the water flows away from the spring, creating bigger and bigger channels of water.

There were quite many cyclist in the forest area also.

This place is super green and beautiful during summer. It's still nice, but it starts to die as the weather gets colder slowly.

Ferns going brown as they dry up.

I don't remember that it has rained much lately, but this part of the area was super wet, this shouldnt be so big of a pond.

This bridge was level with the water, so just a bit more of water and you would have to walk through water over the bridge. Last time I was here the water was atleast more than half meter lower.

15.jpg

Could it be the falling leaves, that have clogged up some pipe, that the water was flowing trough. Don't know. But the water level was super high. Also noticed these red leaves.

Ok, enough of walking, let's get back to the city noise reality.

Sort:

I have been to most of the bogs of northern Estonia but never at Pääskyla one. I should go there ar last.

Haha, yes, it's usually like that, discovering places away from city seems more natural. But yes, go and explore.
