On the last day of our (August) trip around Wyoming, we stopped back in Thermopolis to visit the hot spring there. The last time I was there, it was May, so the different season was nice.
Here is the very stinky hot spring, as it currently flows (it moves over time.)
The "sludge" all around the hot spring is actually mineral deposits, which line the entire course of the stream as it makes its way to the Bighorn River.
Further away, across the bridge, you can see the biggest advertisement I've ever seen for a natural feature - "World's Largest Mineral Hot Spring" - with an arrow pointing (very roughly) to the spring.
