Ruta a la Concentración motera invernal de Pingüinos 2023
Good morning everyone! It's been a while since I've written, between the end of the year and the start of the new year it's always hard, this time I bring you my motorbike adventure to the Pingüinos winter motorcycle rally in Valladolid (Spain). The last time I came to this rally was 5 years ago in 2018. That time I rented a room, more suitable for the climate of this season, but this time I wanted to live the experience 100%, so I prepared everything necessary to be able to camp and not die trying.
Muy buenas a todos! Hace tiempo que no escribo, entre que terminó el año y que el comienzo del año nuevo siempre es duro, esta vez os traigo mi aventura en moto a la concentración motera invernal de Pingüinos en Valladolid (España). La ultima vez que vine a esta concentración fue hace 5 años en el 2018. Esa vez alquile una habitación, mas propia para el clima de esta estación, pero esta vez quería vivir la experiencia al 100%, así que prepare todo lo necesario para poder acampar y no morir en el intento.
I equipped the bike with its three panniers and on the back seat I tied a mat to insulate me from the ground and the tent, in one suitcase I carried an inflatable mattress and in the other a special sleeping bag for low temperatures, the rest clothes and various things. I got dressed in my winter motorbike clothes and started my journey of almost 400 kilometres in quite low temperatures
Equipe la moto con sus tres maletas y en el asiento trasero amarre una esterilla para aislarme del suelo y la tienda de campaña, en una maleta llevaba un colchón hinchable y en la otra un saco de dormir especial para bajas temperaturas, el resto ropa y cosas varias. Me vestí con la ropa de moto de invierno y comencé mi viaje de casi 400 kilómetros con temperaturas bastante bajas.
After the long route in which I almost froze I managed to get to my destination, after a short queue, I showed my ticket and they gave me my bag with the accreditation to enter, a neck warmer, a sticker, a pin, a magazine and some tickets to exchange food and some other things.
Después de la larga ruta en la cual casi me congelo conseguí llegar a mi destino, después de hacer una pequeña fila, enseñe mi entrada y me dieron mi bolsa con la acreditación para entrar, una braga para el cuello, una pegatina, un pin, una revista y unos tickets que servían para canjear comida y algunas cosas.
Tickets with which I could exchange two breakfasts, a dinner at the venue and something else. /Tickets con los que podía canjear dos desayunos, una cena en el recinto y alguna cosa más.
Having gathered everything we needed, the next thing to do was to set up camp, we entered the site, it was Thursday and 4 days of little sleep and cold awaited us.
Habiendo recogido todo lo necesario lo siguiente fue acampar, entramos en el recinto, era jueves y nos esperaban 4 días de dormir poco y pasar frio.
My sleeping bag, as you can see, is quite resistant to low temperatures. / Mi saco de dormir como veis aguanta bastante las bajas temperaturas.
Once we were settled in the camp, we had to eat, so we headed for the food stalls in the grounds.
Asentados en el campamento había que comer, así que nos dirigimos a los puestos de comida del recinto.
A big tent where the concerts would be held and places to eat at the sides.
Una gran carpa donde se albergarían los conciertos y a los laterales lugares donde poder comer.
I ordered a veal sandwich with green peppers, patatas bravas and a large beer.
Me pedí un bocadillo de ternera con pimientos verdes, patatas bravas y una gran cerveza.
In the main square we have this poster showing different places and the distance between them, and the figure that gives its name to this event, a penguin on a motorbike.
En la plaza principal tenemos este cartel donde salen diferentes lugares y la distancia a la que se encuentran, y la figura que da nombre a este evento, un pingüino sobre una moto.
The penguin ticket includes all the coffee and broth you want to drink, here my first coffee.
La entrada de pingüinos incluye todo el café y todo el caldo que quieras beber, aquí mi primer café.
Self portrait where you can see the hat I bought here to fight the cold, it was going to be my great companion these days.
Selfie donde se ve el gorro que me compré aquí para combatir el frio, iba a ser mi gran compañero de estos días.
The toilets and showers were quite good, they were cleaned continuously, I have been to other events and it was always a point of failure.
Los baños y duchas estaban bastante bien, además los limpiaban de continuo, he ido a otros eventos y siempre era un punto en el que fallaban.
In another tent were the merchandising stalls and other biker accessories, there was even a stall where they gave away books, I found this initiative curious.
En otra carpa estaban los puestos de merchandising y demás accesorios moteros, hasta había un puesto en el que regalaban libros, me pareció curiosa esa iniciativa.
Después de dar la primera vuelta por el recinto nos fuimos a comprar a un supermercado comida y cervezas, ya que la gran protagonista de nuestro campamento iba a ser la hoguera, era la que nos calentaba y en la que íbamos a cocinar.
The fog and smoke merged and the trees looked like ghostly figures. / La niebla y el humo se fusionaban y los arboles parecían figuras fantasmagoricas.
La hoguera me hipnotizo, y es donde mas tiempo pase ya que hacia tanto frio que separarse de ella era imposible, lo que hice fue hacer varias fotos y videos de la hoguera, la cual no dejamos que se apagase en los 4 días. A continuación os muestro algunas de ellas.
After so many photos of the bonfire we continue with this little adventure. Taking a short walk at night you see hundreds of motorbikes and tents, the nice thing about this rally is that you stop to talk to anyone and there are no problems, you talk about motorbikes or the cold weather, I was asked about my bike several times, I think it was because it was the only one of that model in the rally.
Después de tanta foto de hoguera seguimos con esta pequeña aventura. Dando un pequeño paseo nocturno se ven cientos de motos y tiendas de campaña, lo bonito de esta concentración es que te paras a hablar con cualquier persona y no hay problemas, hablas de motos o del frio que hace, a mi me preguntaron por mi moto varias veces, yo creo que fue porque era la única de ese modelo en la concentración.
Also on Friday night, the year of the penguin is celebrated, when the twelve bells are rung and 12 pine nuts are eaten. The pine nuts are given to you in this curious container which you keep as a souvenir.
También el viernes por la noche se celebra el año pingüinero, en el cual se dan las doce campanadas y se comen 12 piñones. Los piñones te los dan en este curioso recipiente que te lo guardas como recuerdo.
The breakfasts were hearty, consisting of coffee or chocolate, juice, fried egg, sausage and a sweet. The first day that breakfast was not included I bought churros and hot chocolate.
Los desayunos eran contundentes, consistían en café o chocolate, zumo, huevo frito, salchicha y un dulce. El primer día que no incluía el desayuno me compre churros y chocolate caliente.
The dinner on Saturday was also quite good, apart from the ceramic plate as a souvenir, consisting of potatoes with meat, meat pie, an orange and water.
La cena del sábado también estaba bastante bien aparte te llevabas de recuerdo el plato de cerámica, consistía en patatas con carne, empanada de carne, una naranja y agua.
We continued talking about food, on Saturday we went to eat outside the venue, I felt like eating sitting down in a warm place, and I ordered a menu of stew, which consisted of stew soup, stew and dessert, I loved it and it was good for me to get my strength back.
Seguimos hablando de comidas, el sábado fuimos a comer fuera del recinto, me apetecía comer sentado en un sitio caliente, y me pedí un menú de cocido, que consistía en sopa de cocido, cocido y el postre, me encantó y me vino bien para coger fuerzas.
On Saturday morning there was a parade of flags, which consisted of riding around the city on motorbikes, the whole city came out to see us and people looked at us with excitement.
El sábado por la mañana se hacia el desfile de banderas, que consistía en pasear por la ciudad en moto, toda la ciudad salía a vernos y las personas nos miraban con ilusión.
At night was the torchlight parade, less crowded, and it was only possible to participate if two people were on the same motorbike, as the passenger had to carry the flare. This parade was in commemoration of the fallen bikers, a solemn and very beautiful act.
Por la noche era el desfile de antorchas, menos multitudinario, además solo se podía participar si iban dos en la misma moto, ya que el pasajero tenia que llevar la bengala. Este desfile era en conmemoración de los moteros caídos, un acto solemne y muy bonito.

Otro acto de esta concentración es la quema de la falla que sirve para cerrar la ultima noche del evento.
It was difficult to get close as there were too many people, this year 43300 people came to the rally.
Era difícil acercarse ya que había demasiada gente, este año han sido 43300 personas las que han acudido a la concentración.
There were many strange vehicles around the place, such as a sports motorbike ready to travel on all types of terrain, motorbikes with sidecars and vehicles I couldn't name.
Muchos vehículos extraños habían por el lugar, como una motocicleta deportiva preparada para viajar por todo tipo de terrenos, motos con sidecar y vehículos que no sabría como nombrar.
Our camp was full of motorbikes and we had to protect them from the cold and the ash.
En nuestro campamento las motos abundaban y teníamos que protegerlas del frio y la ceniza.
The view from the inside of the tent was unique.
La vista desde el interior de la tienda de campaña era particular.
Well and with this I just have to tell you about the route back, which was very cold, it rained, snowed and hailed, but we continued on our way to our home.
Bueno y con esto solo os tengo que contar la ruta de vuelta, la cual pasamos mucho frio, nos llovió, nevó y granizo, pero seguimos nuestro camino para llegar a nuestro hogar.

Me he quedado congelada solo de leerte, jajaja. El evento de los pingüinos siempre me ha llamado mucho la atención, hay que tener arrestos para ir hasta allí en moto y luego dormir de acampada varios días. Mi más sincera admiración.
Lo importante es que lo hayas pasado bien, clima aparte. Vivir ese ambiente tiene que estar genial.
