Off to Denmark - continued

in Pinmapple2 years ago (edited)

Another two days have passed of our trip through Denmark.
The weather is still wonderful and we reached every destination without any incidents.

Notable destinations were the northernmost point of Denmark in Skagen, where the North Sea and the Baltic Sea meet each other, the "North Sea Oceanarium" which is the biggest aquarium in northern Europe and the Bangsbo Bunker museum.

Starting with Skagen.
Skagen is about 2h by car from our apartment.
At this most northern point of Denmark the Baltic Sea meets the North Sea.
It is interesting as that there are two waves hitting each other.
Unfortunately it is a really touristic point of interest which it makes impossible to make photos without many people on it, but you can see the (currently small) waves comming from left (North Sea) and right (Baltic Sea).

There also was some kind of traffic jam on the Baltic Sea side, seeing large ships queueing one after the other.

On our way back south we stopped at the lighthouse nearby.
We wanted to get something to eat there, but the place was too crowded already and we did not get any seat.
So, back north where we got some tasty fish and chips.

Again driving south, we stopped at the Bangsbo Bunker museum.
This open air museum contains several preserved bunkers and military equipment from the second world war.
Even today they spread an oppressive atmosphere.

Not only military equipment but also the daily life of the soldiers from that time were displayed in a ln impressive way.
Even if metal parts like doors and metal beams are heavily rusted (well, it's almost 80 years ago) the massive concrete walls will be preserved for ages.

Last but not least we visited the Oceanarium.
As the name suggests, an aquarium, with inside and outside areas.
Inside parts were very informative about any topic regarding to sea life as well as about natulical shipping.

It also targeted the topic of sea pollution. The cause and its effects.

The ship simulation was pretty awesome

The Outside area had a fun wind simulator blowing string winds (and water) in your face when selecting "hurrican mode"

Unfortunately we missed the seal feeding by a couple of minutes.
However, the visit is something I totally recommend, not only for children.

Tomorrow we are going to relax on the beach and on Sunday we are heading back to Copenhagen and spend 2 nights there (got a great hotel in the vicinity of the harbour) before we get back to Austria.

Hope you liked traveling with us so far and see you next time :)
