Today we will continue our virtual tour of the Kaluga region, where a few weeks ago we went with the whole family and where we stayed overnight in a tent in an equipped and comfortable camping. Today we will not talk about art objects, which are saturated with the local art park, but about the church on the banks of the Ugra River.
ONLINE REFERENCE: Nikola-Lenivets is the largest art park in Europe around a tiny village in the Kaluga region. Here, a collection of works of modern art and architecture unfolded right in the open air. Nikola-Lenivets is 650 hectares of land open for creative experiments and the search for non—standard solutions in various fields — from art to eco-farming.
Artists and architects of international level, as well as local residents participated in the creation of the objects. The ideologist of the project is the artist Nikolai Polissky.
Already in the afternoon, when we were surveying the surroundings and looking for the next sights, we found this old abandoned church on the very top of the local hill. From here you can enjoy a stunning view of the floodplain of the river and the surrounding forests. Despite the intense heat, we decided to explore this place in detail.
A brisk merchant who was sitting near the parking lot happily sold us some pancakes wrapped with cottage cheese and a couple of huge pies that his wife bakes. When asked what kind of place it was, he replied that the church was just a local landmark, but it was not operational.
Externally, the temple building looked quite intact, the roof seems to have been recently restored, in the window openings we noticed quite fresh frames with glass. Tourists were scurrying around taking photos. There is almost no plaster left on the church building, but according to local residents, the building is being slowly restored.
When we went inside, we were surprised because the inside was pretty clean, although the building looked pretty abandoned. In some places, people have placed icons, candles or lamps on the walls or on the windowsills. It turns out that parishioners still come here, although the service in the church is not held.
I specially took some pictures of the walls and the interior of the dome of the church to show how dilapidated everything is here. It is worth noting that fragments of frescoes and stucco elements have been preserved somewhere. If restoration work is carried out here, the builders will need a lot of money and effort to put the church building in order.
I don't know how anyone feels here, but this place didn't seem dull to me. Perhaps because there were a lot of people around, and the locals themselves made a positive contribution to the atmosphere of this church. Perhaps one day we will return here again, but by that time the Divine Spirit will finally be established here, which will never leave this amazing place again.

СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Никола-Ленивец — это самый большой арт-парк Европы вокруг крохотной деревни в Калужской области. Здесь прямо под открытым небом развернулась коллекция произведений современного искусства и архитектуры. Никола-Ленивец — это 650 гектаров земли, открытой для творческих экспериментов и поиска нестандартных решений в разных областях — от искусства до экофермерства.
В создании объектов участвовали как художники и архитекторы международного уровня, так и местные жители. Идеолог проекта — художник Николай Полисский.
Уже во второй половине дня, когда мы обозревали окрестности и искали очередные достопримечательности, на самой вершине местного холма мы обнаружили эту старую заброшенную церковь. Отсюда открывается потрясающий вид на пойму реки и на окрестные леса. Невзирая на сильную жару, мы решили подробно исследовать это место.
Бойкий торговец, который сидел возле автостоянки с радостью продал нам несколько блинчиков, завёрнутых с творогом и пару огромных пирожков, которые печёт его супруга. На вопрос, что это за место, тот ответил, что церковь – просто местная достопримечательность, но она не действующая.
Внешне здание храма выглядело вполне целым, крыша, похоже, была недавно отреставрирована, в оконных проёмах мы заметили довольно свежие рамы со стёклами. Вокруг сновали туристы, делая фотоснимки. Штукатурки на здании церкви почти не осталось, но по словам местных, здание потихоньку реставрируют.
Когда мы вошли внутрь, то удивились, потому что внутри оказалось довольно чисто, хотя здание выглядело довольно заброшенным. Кое-где на стенах или на подоконниках люди поставили иконы, свечи или лампадки. Получается, прихожане сюда всё же заходят, хотя служба в церкви и не проводится.
Я специально сделал несколько снимков стен и внутренней части купола церкви, чтобы показать, насколько здесь всё обветшало. Стоит заметить, что где-то сохранились ораменты фресок и элементы лепнины. Если тут будут вестись реставрационные работы, строителям понадобится много средств и усилий, чтобы привести в порядок здание церкви.
Не знаю, кто как тут себя ощущает, но мне это место не показалось унылым. Возможно потому, что вокруг было много людей, да и сами местные жители вносяд свой положительный вклад в атмосферу этой церкви. Возможно однажды мы снова вернёмся сюда, но к тому времени здесь окончательно утвердится Божественный Дух, который уже никогда больше не покинет это удивительное место.
