Awesome post @awilhelm. It's always good to help others in need irrespective of the circumstances and you've demonstrated this in a rightful manner. Helping others will always open more doors of blessings to come your way and you'll never lack good things in life.
It's true that helping others is only a law in the bible and it's why most people practice giving to the needy but it shouldn't be the case but rather a constant practice because everything we have or enjoy in this life is mere privilege and we need to show empathy as well.
