Today it's our turn to talk about the worst advice I've ever heard 😱 (believe me it's going to be interesting).
Pues, les comienzo contando que yo amo enseñar, es una de mis pasiones, siento que el transmitir conocimiento te da una de las mejores sensaciones del mundo, incluso soy de las que explica las cosas con calma a todo el mundo cuando no saben de algo. Así que se imaginaran mi sorpresa cuando quise comenzar a dar clases básicas de repostería y alguien me dijo "¡No des clases, serán tu competencia y pueden quitarte los clientes!"
Well, I'll start by telling you that I love teaching, it is one of my passions, I feel that transmitting knowledge gives you one of the best feelings in the world, I am even one of those who explain things calmly to everyone when they do not know something. So you can imagine my surprise when I wanted to start giving basic baking classes and someone told me "Don't teach, they will be your competition and they'll take your customers away!
Hasta ahora no había escuchando nunca tan mal consejo (bueno tal vez si algunos malos, pero sin duda este ha sido el peor). La verdad preferí ignorar tan "sabio" consejo, al principio dije, OMG es verdad, y si después son mejores que yo en algo que yo les enseñé? pero caí en cuenta que la vida no funciona de esa manera y que si yo amo enseñar, puedo hacerlo sin miedo alguno a que alguien me supere porque todos somos mejores que alguien en algo y muchos podemos ser buenos en lo mismo y eso no tiene nada de malo.
Until now I had never heard such bad advice (well maybe some bad advices, but without a doubt this was the worst). The truth is I preferred to ignore such "wise" advice, at first I said, OMG it's true, what if they are better than me in something I taught them? but I realized that life doesn't work that way and that if I love teaching I can do it, without any fear that someone will be better than me, because we are all better than someone in something and many of us can be good at the same thing and there is nothing wrong with that.
Elegir compartir tu conocimiento nunca estará mal y lo mejor es que te puede abrir puertas, puedes llegar a mas personas, puedes dejar un legado, además mientras enseñas te ves obligado a aprender nuevas y mejores técnicas para siempre estar innovando, tus clientes no se irán solo porque ayudes o enseñes a alguien mas, lo puedes volver incluso un negocio (así como hago yo con el inglés y la repostería).
Choosing to share your knowledge will never be wrong and the best thing is that it can open doors, you can reach more people, you can leave a legacy, plus while teaching you are forced to learn new and better techniques to always be innovating, your clients will not leave just because you help or teach someone else, you can even turn it into a business (just like I do with English and baking).
Sin duda para mi este ha sido el peor consejo que he recibido o escuchado en mi vida laboral, en mi corazón guardo en un lugar especial a todos aquellos que se han dedicado a enseñarme y a guiarme en mis caminos laborales, gracias a ellos y al esfuerzo que puse pude y puedo seguir logrando muchas cosas.
Undoubtedly for me this has been the worst advice I have received or heard in my working life, in my heart I keep in a special place all those who have been dedicated to teach me and guide me in my work paths, thanks to them and the effort I've put I can continue reaching my goals.
