I thought about mentioning the first things that would pop into my head again, but I won`t. There is one thing that really makes me sad nowadays and that is "cancel culture".
What started as a very good thing see Weinstein and R.Kelly morphed into a very dangerous thing. People are getting canceled left and right. Not only that, the chance to redeem yourself after being innocent is really small. I forget the comedian's name, but he was one of the last lucky ones.
One of the saddest stories is from Jeremy Piven. Who you might know as Ari Gold from Entourage. His career as a movie actor was halted for 3 long years after he caught a #metoo case in 2017. Not only did he win the case, but his own wife was also his alibi because he was with her at that alleged moment. His case was presented based on his character Ari Gold who is a very selfish short-tempered guy, but the dangerous thing about this is that he was acting.
Jeremy lost a lot of roles and had to come by as a stand-up comedian in the meantime, and finally got a shot at acting again in 2020. The reason why this makes me sad is that "cancel culture" is way bigger than we think now. Someone I know recently had to sign a no-contact clause at work after his colleague left the company on bitter terms.
I really hope things get better in the future where people at least get the chance to redeem themselves.
