Вітаю, шановні друзі. На огляді невеличка монета діаметром 15 мм Південно-Африканської Республіки. Вага складає 1.5 г. Цент цієї країни є обіговою монетою. Зі ста центів формується ранд, національна грошова одиниця ПАР.
До речі, ранд використовується не лише в ПАР, а й ряді інших країн, котрі входять у валютну зону, наприклад, Намібія. До 1961 року в країні використовували фунт. З утворенням Республіки з'явилася нова національна валюта. Походження назви грошової одиниці не випадкове, а пов'язане з назвою гірського хребта, де було виявлено величезні запаси жовтого металу.
Національна валюта ПАР позначається літерами ZAR, й, до речі, входить у двадцятку світових валют за об'ємами торгових операцій. Це зовсім не дивно для країни, де добуваються величезні об'єми золота, залізних руд, міді та десятків інших корисних копалин.
Монету номіналом 1 цент, як на світлині, ви вже не побачите в обігу: її вилучили з обігу понад 20 років тому. Хоча на ранніх етапах створення нової Республіки регулятор випускав навіть монету номіналом ½ цента. При нинішньому курсі валюта Південно-Африканської Республіки коштує приблизно у два рази менше української гривні. Тобто, 1 цент — це пів копійки України.
Монети в якості UNC були випущені великим тиражем, понад 200 мільйонів. В Proof регулятор викарбував 10 000 монет. Їх ціна дещо вища.
Реверс. Тут зображено двох птахів, вказано номінал 1с. Монета має гладкий гурт, виготовлена зі сталі, поверхня якої вкрита міддю.
З іншого боку нанесено національну символіку (Герб), також викарбувано рік виготовлення та напис ININGIZIMU AFRIKA.

The origin of the name of the monetary unit is not accidental, but is connected with the name of the mountain range, where huge reserves of the yellow metal were discovered.
The national currency of South Africa is denoted by the letters ZAR, and, by the way, it is among the twenty world currencies in terms of trade volume. This is not at all surprising for a country where huge amounts of gold, iron ore, copper and dozens of other minerals are mined.
You will no longer see the 1-cent coin, as in the photo, in circulation: it was withdrawn from circulation more than 20 years ago. Although in the early stages of the creation of the new Republic, the regulator issued even a ½ cent coin. At the current exchange rate, the currency of the South African Republic is worth approximately two times less than the Ukrainian hryvnia. That is, 1 cent is half a kopeck of Ukraine.
Coins in UNC quality were issued in large numbers, over 200 million. In Proof, the regulator minted 10,000 coins. Their price is somewhat higher.
Reverse. Two birds are depicted here, the denomination is 1s. The coin has a smooth band, made of steel, the surface of which is covered with copper.
On the other side, the national symbol (Coat of Arms) is applied, as well as the year of manufacture and the inscription ININGIZIMU AFRIKA.
