For the third day now, everyone has been watching the situation in Mariupol with bated breath, after the military evacuation procedure began. The essence of the plan is that as soon as the condition of the seriously wounded fighters stabilizes, they will be exchanged. At the same time, statements are already coming from the russian side that "it is necessary to conduct interrogations in order to establish possible facts of war crimes against the civilian population," "it is necessary to ban the exchange of war criminals altogether," and even that fighters should be subjected to the "death penalty." Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Hanna Maliar commented that these statements are being used for internal propaganda and that the negotiation process is ongoing and requires delicacy.
Ось уже третій день усі, затамувавши подих, спостерігають за ситуацією в Маріуполі, після того, як почалася процедура евакуації військових. Суть плану у тому, що коли стан тяжко поранених бійців стабілізується, їх обміняють як полонених. При цьому з російської сторони вже надходять заяви про те, що "необхідно проводити допити, щоб встановити можливі факти військових злочинів проти цивільного населення", "необхідно взагалі заборонити обмін військових злочинців" і навіть що бійців потрібно піддати "смертній карі". Заступниця міністра оборони України Ганна Маляр прокоментувала, що ці заяви використовуються для внутрішньої пропаганди і що переговорний процес ведеться і потребує делікатності.
I would like to believe that the operation to free the defenders of Mariupol will be completed successfully and the guys will return home. Although, I have to admit that we need to prepare for everything, because, as experience shows, the russians cannot be trusted, especially when it comes to the defenders of Azovstal.
Хочеться вірити, що операція зі звільнення захисників Маріуполя завершиться успішно і хлопці повернуться додому. Хоча змушена визнати, що готуватися треба до всього, адже, як показує досвід, вірити росіянам не можна, особливо коли йдеться про захисників Азовсталі.

According to the mayor of the city, Andrii Sadovyi, 8 rockets were fired, which were shot down by the air defense forces. Still, Maksym Kozytskyi, the head of the Lviv District Military Administration, reported that a military infrastructure facility had been damaged. The news from absolutely every corner of the country is very upsetting, but when I hear that the western regions have been shelled, this news takes me by surprise and despair. There is a war in the country, and, unfortunately, there is not a single safe place in it now.

А Максим Козицький, голова Львівської ОВА, повідомив про те, що пошкоджено об'єкт військової інфраструктури. Дуже засмучують новини абсолютно з будь-якого куточка країни, але коли я чую про те, що були обстріляні західні регіони – ці новини застають мене зненацька та засмучують. У країні війна, і, на жаль, у ній зараз немає жодного безпечного місця.
Active work continues on the diplomatic front - and not only at the official level of governments. Today, Volodymyr Zelenskyy joined the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival online and delivered a speech. In his speech, he mentioned a line from the film The Great Dictator, which was a political satire on Nazism: “Human hatred will pass, and dictators will die, and the power they have taken from the people will return to the people. And as long as people die, freedom will never perish…”. He was given a standing ovation. Hope that the words from this classical movie will be prophetic.

Сьогодні Володимир Зеленський підключився до церемонії відкриття Канського фестивалю з відеозв'язку та виступив із промовою. У своїй промові він згадав фразу з фільму "Великий Диктатор", який був політичною сатирою на нацизм: «Людська ненависть пройде, і диктатори помруть, і влада, яку вони забрали у людей, повернутись до людей. І поки люди вмирають, свобода ніколи не загине...». Весь зал аплодував йому стоячи. Сподіваюся, що слова з цього класичного фільму стануть пророчими.
