Як би не намагалась радянська влада знищувати все українське в Україні під час майже 60-річної окупації, але наш народ зумів вберегти той ген свободи та жадобу до боротьби.
В період становлення більшовицької радянської влади, з 1922 по 1956 роки, на окупованих територіях репресивний апарат засудив майже 4 млн. громадян, кожного п'ятого було страчено, майже 3 млн. осіб було заслано в сибірські табори.
Більша частина з репресованих - це українці, яких радянська влада намагалась підкорити або знищити незгодних в першу чергу. Та навіть перебуваючи за тисячі кілометрів від дому, в нелюдських умовах - українці берегли свої традиції та намагались святкувати Різдво та славити народження Сина Божого. На цій світлині з табірного бараку 1956 року ми бачимо і традиційну українську вишиванку, і вертеп і ці очі, сповнені любові до своєї культури.
Сьогодні Україна та світ відчувають силу цього незламного духу українців. І завдяки цій силі ми обов'язково переможемо російський морок.
No matter how hard the Soviet authorities tried to destroy everything Ukrainian in Ukraine during the nearly 60-year occupation, our people managed to preserve that gene of freedom and desire to fight.
During the formation of the Bolshevik Soviet government, from 1922 to 1956, the repressive apparatus condemned almost 4 million citizens in the occupied territories, every fifth was executed, and almost 3 million people were sent to Siberian camps.
Most of the repressed are Ukrainians, whom the Soviet authorities tried to subjugate or destroy dissenters in the first place. But even being thousands of kilometers away from home, in inhumane conditions, Ukrainians preserved their traditions and tried to celebrate Christmas and glorify the birth of the Son of God. In this photo from the camp barracks of 1956, we can see a traditional Ukrainian vyshyvanka, a nativity scene, and these eyes full of love for their culture.
Today, Ukraine and the world feel the power of this indomitable spirit of Ukrainians. And thanks to this power, we will definitely defeat the Russian darkness.
