Коли посеред літа було зібрано достиглу цибулю, то порожня земля на ділянці ніяк мене не влаштовувала. Але що ж посіяти тут, щоб встигло вирости до холодів? Дні у липні стають все коротшими, рослинкам не вистачатиме світла для повноцінного росту. Дехто з сусідів радив зайнятися огірками. Але якось мені не вірилось, що вони зможуть дати врожай. Надто довго чекати, поки та насінина проросте, зацвіте та дасть плоди. Зараз розумію, що я не помилялася. Осінь 'вмикнулась' рівно першого вересня. І до коротшого світлового дня додався ще і холод. Огірки точно такого б не витримали.
А от запропоноване в магазині насіння салату я купила. Правда, такого продукту сім'я майже не вживала раніше, але все одно посіяла. І от тепер абсолютно не жалію: грядочка весело пропонує зайнятися нарізкою смачного та корисного вітамінного листя салату. Ще й пощастило мати зелену цибульку, завдяки розсадженим 'новонародженим' діткам живородящої цибулі. Вони гарно прийнялися та проросли. Та ще й пізно посіяний кріп маю, хоч і ріденький, але ж який ароматний!

But somehow I did not believe that they would be able to give a harvest. It is too long to wait for that seed to sprout, blossom and bear fruit. Now I understand that I was not mistaken. Autumn "turned on" exactly on the first of September. And the cold was added to the shorter daylight hours. Cucumbers would definitely not be able to withstand this.
But I bought the salad seeds offered in the store. True, the family had hardly used such a product before, but they sowed it anyway. And now I don't regret it at all: the garden cheerfully offers to cut tasty and healthy vitamin salad leaves. I was also lucky to have a green onion, thanks to the planted 'newborn' children live-bearing onion. They took well and germinated. I also have dill sown late, although it is rare, but it is so fragrant!
