En la época de vacaciones me encanta hacer planes vacacionales, algún curso, dictar clases y hasta cuidar niños porque así me permite que mi hijo también interactúe con otros. Por esta razón me puse en contacto con dos colegas más y decidimos poner en acción esa idea, buscamos locales y quedamos enamoradas de unos jardines al aire libre, así que publicamos los flyer publicitarios y al tener suficiente matrícula elaboramos un taller para realizar pizzas.Tuvimos un grupo de niños, de entre 4 y 11 años, que se convertirían en auténticos maestros pizzeros. Ver sus caras de emoción al llegar, con esa mezcla de curiosidad e incredulidad, era ya la primera recompensa.
During the holiday season, I love making vacation plans, taking courses, teaching classes, and even babysitting because it allows my son to interact with others. For this reason, I contacted two other colleagues and we decided to put this idea into action. We looked for venues and fell in love with some outdoor gardens, so we published advertising flyers and, once we had enough registrations, we organized a pizza-making workshop. We had a group of children, aged between 4 and 11, who would become true pizza masters. Seeing their excited faces when they arrived, with that mixture of curiosity and disbelief, was the first reward.
La aventura comenzó con las manos en la masa, literalmente. Colocamos cada uno de sus pequeños delantales y les entregamos una porción de masa fresca para así facilitar el procesó. Las instrucciones eran simples: estirar, amasar y darle forma. Fue fascinante ver la concentración en sus rostros. Los más pequeños, de 4 y 5 años, creaban formas abstractas llenas de cariño, las cuales con ayuda de las facilitadoras luego fueron redondas, mientras que los mayores, ya más coordinados se esforzaban por lograr el perfecto círculo. Las risas no paraban cuando la harina caia en todos lados, algunos terminaron bañados en ese polvo blanco porque si, hicieron una fiesta con la harina jajaja yo también me uni a ella y la pasamos muy bien.
The adventure began with their hands in the dough, literally. We put on each of their little aprons and gave them a portion of fresh dough to make the process easier. The instructions were simple: stretch, knead, and shape. It was fascinating to see the concentration on their faces. The youngest, aged 4 and 5, created abstract shapes full of love, which, with the help of the facilitators, were then rounded, while the older ones, already more coordinated, strove to achieve the perfect circle. The laughter was nonstop as flour fell everywhere, and some ended up covered in white powder because, well, they had a flour party, ha ha ha. I joined in too, and we had a great time.
Llegó el momento que estaban esperando, poder colocar los ingredientes de su preferencia, en vista que eran niños decidimos hacerla Margarita (queso mozzarella y jamón) para que fuera más de si agrado. Frente a ellos se colocó por porciones los ingredientes, los cuales no se resistieron a probar jajaja tuvimos que buscar mas para que nos pudiera alcanzar. Fue increíble observar cómo sus personalidades brillaban en cada creación, asi mismo destacaban sus gustos porque algunos manifestaron que no les agrada bien sea en queso o el jamón y nosotras los dejamos hacerlas totalmente a su preferencia, algunos usaban poco material mientras que otros querían que se desbordara todo de su pizza.
The moment they had been waiting for arrived: they could add their favorite ingredients. Since they were children, we decided to make Margarita pizzas (mozzarella cheese and ham) so that they would like them more. The ingredients were placed in front of them in portions, and they couldn't resist trying them, ha ha ha. We had to find more so that there would be enough for everyone. It was incredible to see how their personalities shone through in each creation. Their tastes were also evident, as some said they didn't like cheese or ham, and we let them make them entirely to their liking. Some used few ingredients, while others wanted their pizza to be completely covered.
Mientras nuestras creaciones horneaban y un delicioso aroma empezaba a invadir en los jardines, dimos paso a las actividades recreativas, donde hicimos juegos didácticos, todo el grupo se íntegro y alguno más que otro quería hacer su trampa para ganar jajaja en ese momento no aguantaba la risa para poder poner el orden. Los jardines se llenaron de carreras, gritos de júbilo y una energía contagiosa que demostraba que la diversión más pura es la que nace del juego simple y la compañía.
While our creations were baking and a delicious aroma began to fill the gardens, we moved on to recreational activities, where we played educational games. The whole group joined in, and some more than others wanted to cheat to win, ha ha ha. At that moment, I couldn't hold back my laughter and had to restore order. The gardens were filled with running, shouts of joy, and contagious energy, proving that the purest fun comes from simple games and good company.
Como broche de oro a la mañana de juegos, llegó el compartir unos deliciosos helados de limón y fresa para refrescarnos del clima caluroso, ellos no se lo esperaban para nada y agradecieron mucho el gesto, nosotras felices de ver esos rostros contentos. Era la calma perfecta después de la tormenta de energía, de hecho ya los olores a las pizzas se incrementaron y estaban ansiosos de poder degustarlas. Fuimos metiendo las porciones por tandas y quisimos esperar que todas estuvieran listas para así poder comer todos juntos.
As the perfect ending to the morning of games, we shared some delicious lemon and strawberry ice cream to cool off from the hot weather. They weren't expecting it at all and were very grateful for the gesture. We were happy to see their happy faces. It was the perfect calm after the storm of energy. In fact, the smell of pizza was growing stronger, and they were eager to taste it. We put the slices in batches and wanted to wait until they were all ready so we could eat together.
Por fin, la gran degustación. Al entregarles su propia pizza, la emoción volvió a brillar en sus ojos sus caras de "yo hice esto" se notaba con orgullo. El primer bocado, ese en el que cerraron los ojos para saborear su obra maestra, fue mágico. No solo estaban probando una pizza; estaban probando el fruto de su esfuerzo, su creatividad y su paciencia. Fue un día que nos recordó que las mejores recetas siempre incluyen una pizca de caos, un puñado de risas y mucho, mucho amor.
Finally, the big tasting. When they were handed their own pizza, excitement lit up their eyes again and their “I made this” faces showed their pride. The first bite, when they closed their eyes to savor their masterpiece, was magical. They weren't just tasting pizza; they were tasting the fruit of their labor, their creativity, and their patience. It was a day that reminded us that the best recipes always include a dash of chaos, a handful of laughter, and lots and lots of love.
