But for him and for me, his curls weren’t just hair; they were part of his personality. I loved that he broke the mold and felt unique, even if that meant a constant battle with the comb every morning.
That battle reached a breaking point when school started. Reality put us to the test: what was supposed to be a calm moment before leaving turned into a race against tangles and the clock, creating unnecessary stress for both of us.
That’s how we began the process of saying “goodbye.” It wasn’t a decision taken lightly. He loved his hair and flatly refused to cut it, so I had to arm myself with patience. Little by little, I talked to him about the benefits, explaining that this was for his own well-being and to make his mornings more fun and less painful. It was a transition that took days of conversation until, finally, he managed to accept it and understand that the change was positive.
The moment finally arrived, and although I felt a pang of nostalgia watching his curls fall away,✂️ today I know it was the right decision. The change has suited him perfectly; now he feels much more comfortable, fresh, and light on his feet when he plays. Seeing him get up and be ready in a minute, without any struggles or tugging, confirms that we did the right thing.

Como madres, amamos ver la esencia natural de nuestros hijos. Mi pequeño de 4 años lucía una melena de rulos preciosa que lo hacía destacar. Sin embargo, más allá de la belleza, a veces nos dejamos llevar por lo que la sociedad dicta: que por ser varón debe llevar el cabello corto. Pero para él y para mí, sus rulos no eran solo pelo; eran parte de su personalidad. Me encantaba que rompiera el molde y se sintiera único, aunque eso significara una batalla constante con el peine cada mañana.
Esa batalla llegó a un punto crítico con el inicio de las clases. La realidad nos puso a prueba: lo que debía ser un momento tranquilo antes de salir se convirtió en una carrera contra los nudos y el reloj, generando un estrés innecesario para ambos.
Así fue como empezamos el proceso de decir 'adiós'. No fue una decisión tomada a la ligera. A él le encantaba su cabello y se negaba rotundamente a cortárselo, por lo que tuve que armarme de paciencia. Poco a poco, fui hablándole sobre los beneficios, explicándole que esto era por su bienestar y para que sus mañanas fueran más divertidas y menos dolorosas. Fue una transición de días de conversación hasta que, finalmente, logró aceptarlo y entender que el cambio era positivo.
El momento llegó y, aunque sentí nostalgia al ver sus rulos caer,✂️ hoy sé que fue el acierto total. El cambio le ha sentado de maravilla; ahora se siente mucho más cómodo, fresco y ligero para jugar. Verlo levantarse y estar listo en un minuto, sin peleas ni tirones, me confirma que hicimos lo correcto.
