Cumpleaños 21 de mi hija [ESP-ENG]

Martes 04 de octubre de 2022, celebramos los 21 años de mi única hija, mi princesa, mi vida entera, mi mayor orgullo y mejor motivación, Valeria. Ayer hicimos una pausa en nuestras obligaciones diarias para compartir, disfrutar y cantar cumpleaños.

Tuesday October 04, 2022, we celebrated the 21st birthday of my only daughter, my princess, my whole life, my greatest pride and best motivation, Valeria. Yesterday we took a break from our daily obligations to share, enjoy and sing birthdays.

Desde que mi hija cumplió 15 años, la celebración de sus cumpleaños había estado llena de ratos de amargura, frustración y otros aspectos negativos, para luego convertirse en un día agradable, en casa no entendíamos las razones y hasta llegamos a emitir juicios suponiendo que era malcriadez de su parte. La razón para ese comportamiento es que un poco antes de cumplir sus 15 primaveras, Valeria empezó a sufrir de depresión y ansiedad, luego con ayuda psicológica determinaron que la fecha de su cumpleaños provocaba un refuerzo hacia esta enfermedad mental.

Ahora, conociendo las razones y en general su condición, he aprendido a sobrellevar la situación. Para este cumpleaños, dejé que todo fluyera y fuese ella quien decidiera que hacer (aunque nunca fue mi intención imponer nada), si pasar todo el día en pijama viendo televisión, degustar un almuerzo en un restaurante, cantar cumpleaños en casa o cualquier otra idea que se le ocurriera.

Para poner la situación un poco más difícil, Valeria es sumamente indecisa. Siempre le ha costado elegir entre varias opciones, varios colores, varios, lugares y sigue la lista. Hasta que el día sábado me indicó que prefería compartir en casa de mi madre en compañía de su pequeña familia directa y su novio.

Since my daughter turned 15, the celebration of her birthdays had been full of bitterness, frustration and other negative aspects, and then turned into a pleasant day, at home we did not understand the reasons and we even made judgments assuming that it was spoiled on her part. The reason for this behavior is that a little before her 15th birthday, Valeria began to suffer from depression and anxiety, then with psychological help they determined that the date of her birthday provoked a reinforcement towards this mental illness.

Now, knowing the reasons and in general her condition, I have learned to cope with the situation. For this birthday, I let everything flow and it was up to her to decide what to do (although it was never my intention to impose anything), whether to spend the whole day in her pajamas watching TV, have lunch at a restaurant, sing birthday songs at home or any other idea that came to her mind.

To make the situation a little more difficult, Valeria is extremely indecisive. She has always had a hard time choosing between several options, several colors, several places and the list goes on. Until Saturday she told me that she preferred to share at my mother's house in the company of her little immediate family and her boyfriend.

Un Combo Cumpleañero que incluida una torta y una gran variedad de pasapalos como tequeños de queso y chocolate, pastelitos de queso y carne, mini pizzas, dedos de mozzarella, Nuggets y salsas, fue el menú elegido por mi hija. Adicional a eso, su papá le dio otra torta de regalo y para la bebida dispusimos de una botella de Ron, otra de whisky y refrescos. Enseguida recordé que mi abuela me había regalado una freidora eléctrica, así que encontré el día prefecto para estrenarla.

Mi mamá preparó la mesa ese día bien temprano para luego agregar los refrigerios y las tortas. Mi esposo y yo nos encargamos de buscar el combo y nos encontramos todos en casa de mi madre al final de la mañana. Mi hija estaba feliz, su rostro iluminado no necesitaba decir nada.

Valeria recibió sus regalos y de manera emocionada empezó a sacar todo de las bolsas. Zapatos, blusas, suéter, cremas corporales, maquillaje, dinero en efectivo y hasta chocolates. Luego de un rato me dispuse en la cocina para iniciar la cocción de los alimentos. Mi hija se encargó de acomodar en las bandejas y recipientes de salsas. Una vez que todo estuvo listo, mi esposo preparó los tragos para brindar.

A birthday combo that included a cake and a variety of snacks such as cheese and chocolate tequeños, cheese and meat cupcakes, mini pizzas, mozzarella fingers, nuggets and sauces, was the menu chosen by my daughter. In addition to that, her dad gave her another cake as a gift and for drinks we had a bottle of rum, a bottle of whiskey and soft drinks. I immediately remembered that my grandmother had given me an electric fryer, so I found the perfect day to use it for the first time.

My mom set the table early in the morning and then added the snacks and cakes. My husband and I took care of getting the combo and we all met at my mother's house at the end of the morning. My daughter was happy, her face lit up and she didn't need to say anything.

Valeria received her gifts and excitedly began to take everything out of the bags. Shoes, blouses, sweaters, body creams, make-up, cash and even chocolates. After a while I went to the kitchen to start cooking the food. My daughter was in charge of arranging the trays and sauce containers. Once everything was ready, my husband prepared the drinks to toast.

Enseguida cada uno tomó un plato y se sirvió los bocadillos a su gusto, después nos acomodamos en la sala a saborear la variedad de comida y la bebida acompañada de risas, anécdotas y agradecimiento por un año más de vida de mi hija y celebrar en la intimidad del hogar.

La verdad es que la cantidad de bocadillos era suficiente, pasamos toda la tarde comiendo y hasta quedaron unos cuantos. Después llegó la hora de cantar cumpleaños, pero antes de eso hubo una pequeña sesión de fotos. Valeria apagó las velas y pidió un deseo que se reservó con el fin de que se haga realidad. Picó las tortas y de nuevo nos sentamos a seguir comiendo, ja, ja, ja. Pedimos las raciones pequeñas para comer allí y las grandes para llevar.

Then we all sat down in the living room to savor the variety of food and drinks accompanied by laughter, anecdotes and gratitude for another year of my daughter's life and to celebrate in the intimacy of our home.

The truth is that the amount of snacks was enough, we spent the whole afternoon eating and there were even a few left over. Then it was time to sing birthday songs, but before that there was a little photo session. Valeria blew out the candles and made a wish that was reserved in order to make it come true. She bit into the cakes and again we sat down to continue eating, ha, ha, ha, ha. We ordered the small portions to eat there and the big ones to take away.

Antes de que cayera la noche nos despedimos para no llegar tan tarde a nuestro hogar, ya que estamos a una hora de distancia de la casa de mi madre, sin contar con el tráfico vehicular, lluvia, accidentes que nos podamos topar en la vía. Llegamos cansados pero felices.

Doy gracias a Dios por haberme dado el mejor regalo del mundo, mi hija Valeria. También agradezco a todos lo que se acordaron del cumpleaños de mi princesa y le enviaron los mejores deseos.

Before nightfall we said goodbye so as not to arrive home so late, since we are an hour away from my mother's house, not to mention the traffic, rain, accidents that we might encounter on the road. We arrived tired but happy.
