We were visiting Alys's ophthalmologist, she had a year without going to her office so it was time for a revision, which by the way should have been 6 months ago but the high costs of the consultation since her eyesight needs to be examined by a strabismus specialist and also to acquire new glasses made the wait a little longer this time.
The consultation was previously booked and they only had availability at 11:30am last Wednesday, so we went at that time to Policlinica Maracaibo, we had to walk around the city for about 25 minutes and arrived about 10 minutes early to the health care center and paid the consultation fee of 50$, Alys was excited because she would visit the eye doctor as she calls her and see Peppa Pig in her little house.
When we entered the office immediately Alys greeted Dr. Belinda with a "Good morning", then she sat on a machine where she had to focus her eyesight using one eye at a time to look for Peppa Pig inside the house, which allows to give an approximate formula, this first eye exam did not take more than 2 minutes, compared to the last time my daughter could not stay calm, she moved her face from the base of the machine and did not focus her eyesight.
Then we went to the couch to test with the different slows the new formula that will adapt to her visual needs, so with the light off she repeated the numbers several times until she could see with accuracy and thus achieve the new formula of her new lenses, they also measured the deviation of her eyes due to astigmatism with some glass prisms.
In the end Alys had an increase in her formula, the deviation of her left eye is noticeable at a distance since she focuses her eyes correctly close, she was recommended to use sunglasses for sun protection because I was noticing that it affects her vision when she goes out in the sun and I told her doctor, she told me that because of her degree of astigmatism.
The doctor talked with me while Alys ate a candy for her good behavior in the consultation, she told me that my little girl is already at the right age to be operated of this pathology, she recommended us to wait 6 more months to make a final decision in a following consultation since we would have to have more than 2.700$ for the operation of her sight, we hope to be able to continue correcting with lenses and to achieve her visual well-being at least until we can put together the money her dad and me.
In particular for me it was very difficult this last consultation since maintaining the visual health of my daughter and mine is currently a luxury, but thanks to God and the effort we have always been able to solve every situation, in a few days we will be making her new glasses I will be telling you how it went.

Hola papis y mamis de ésta grandiosa comunidad, feliz martes para todos y que la paciencia les acompañe en este día y durante toda la semana.
Estuvimos visitando a la oftalmológa de Alys, tenía un año sin ir a su consulta así que ya era momento de una revisión, que por cierto debía ser hace 6 meses pero los altos costos de la consulta ya que su vista necesita ser examinada por un estrabologo especialista en estrabismo y además adquirir nuevos lentes hicieron que se prolongará un poco más la espera está vez.
La consulta fue reservada previamente y sólo tenían disponibilidad a las 11:30am del miércoles pasado, así que fuimos en ese horario a la Policlínica Maracaibo, tuvimos que recorrer la ciudad durante unos 25 minutos y llegamos unos 10 minutos antes al centro asistencial y pagamos el monto de la consulta en 50$, Alys estaba emocionada porque visitaría a la doctora de los ojos como ella le dice y vería a Peppa Pig en su casita.
Cuando entramos a consultorio inmediatamente Alys saludo a la Dra. Belinda con un "Buenos Días", luego se sentó en una máquina donde debía enfocar su vista utilizando un ojo a la vez buscar a Peppa Pig dentro de la casa, la cuál permite dar una fórmula aproximada, este primer examen de la vista no demoró más de 2 minutos, a comparación de la última vez mi hija no lograba quedarse tranquila, movía la cara de la base de la máquina y no enfocaba su vista.
Luego pasamos al sillón a probar con los distintos lentos la nueva fórmula que se adaptará a sus necesidades visuales, así que con la luz apagada ella repetía los números varias veces hasta ver con exactitud pudiendo así lograr la que será su nueva fórmula de sus nuevos lentes, también le midieron la desviación de sus ojos por el astigmatismo con unos prismas de cristal.
Al final Alys tuvo un aumento en su fórmula, la desviación de su ojo izquierdo es notable a la distancia ya que cerca enfoca la mirada correctamente, se le recomendó utilizar lentes para protección solar porque estuve notando que le afecta la visión al salir al sol y se lo comunique a su doctora, ella me dijo que por su grado de astigmatismo.
La doctora converso conmigo mientras Alys comía una comía una golosina por su buen comportamiento en la consulta, ella me comentó que mi pequeña ya está en la edad adecuada para ser operada de esta patología, nos recomendó aguardar 6 meses más para tomar una decisión final en una siguiente consulta ya que tendríamos que disponer de más de 2.700$ para la operación de su vista, esperamos poder seguir corrigiendo con lentes y lograr su bienestar visual por lo menos hasta que podamos juntar el dinero su papá y yo.
En lo particular para mi fue muy difícil esta última consulta ya que mantener la salud visual de mi hija y la mía actualmente es un lujo, pero gracias a Dios y al esfuerzo siempre hemos podido solventar cada situación, en unos próximo días estaremos realizando sus nuevos lentes les estaré contando como nos fue.
