Did I tell you what #TeamGaMa means? It's the team made up of my son and me. GaMa refers to the first two letters of our names. As a single mom, I have always tried to find the balance between healthy mind and emotions. Being so alone, since he was little, it occurred to me to create that name for us that would define us as a whole and so far, it has worked.
Adolescence, that time of change, discovery and search for identity, can be a complex time for teens and parents alike. However, amidst the ups and downs and inevitable generational differences, there are also unique opportunities to strengthen bonds and build indelible memories. One such experience that fills me with particular joy is sharing high school homework with my thirteen-year-old son.
Beyond the simple fact of collaborating on an academic project, this moment becomes a space of connection and mutual learning. Sitting together at the kitchen table, surrounded by crayons, papers and pencils, the distance between our ages fades away, giving way to a fluid and enriching conversation, while in the background, we listen to music we both love.
The truth is that he was presented with several work deliveries of different subjects for the same day and one of them was to defend it, to make a presentation about advertising and propaganda.
While my son is researching and writing down all the concepts and I enjoy his brilliant mind in action, his passion for knowledge and his capacity for analysis, I am doing the drawings, which is the part that he finds difficult. His experiences transport me to my own time as a student, awakening memories and emotions that are stored in a corner of my memory.

I am fascinated to hear his perspectives on history, literature or science, so different from what I had at his age. It's as if a window opens onto a new world, full of fresh and challenging ideas. At the same time, I can share my experience with him, offer him advice based on my own mistakes and successes, and guide him in his learning process.
And what we do have a lot in common is our appreciation for advertising and publicity, perhaps because I, being a publicist, have sometimes cleared up his doubts on these subjects. And he makes me laugh when he says “mommy” and I turn to look at him and the first thing I see is that he put that big magnifying glass in front of his face. He never misses an opportunity to clown around.
What he had to do, is to prepare to make his exposition. To do this, he began to search the Internet for everything concerning advertising and propaganda, concept, structure, types, and so on. And then, to establish the differences between one and the other, and finally, to make the respective illustrations of each one.
All of that was sent to them on Thursday to be delivered on Monday. You can imagine how busy we were.
In every assignment, in every question and in every answer, an invisible thread is woven that binds us together as a family. His curiosity, his enthusiasm and his eagerness to learn are what I enjoy. And I'm always more than happy to help him because I love to draw and paint, it's something I love and although I'm not a professional in this art, I enjoy it.
At the same time, I am proud of his growth, his ability to face academic challenges and his commitment to his education. Watching him strive, focus and finally achieve his goals fills me with satisfaction and reaffirms the importance of accompanying him on this path.

Sharing high school homework with him not only brings us closer as mother and son, but also allows us to learn from each other. It is an exchange of knowledge, experiences and perspectives that enriches our lives and strengthens our bond.
I feel that these moments of connection and learning are a balm for the soul. It is a reminder that, despite generational differences, we share values, dreams and a deep connection that makes us a family. Because as I have always told you, a family, too, is made up of just two people.

¿Te conté que significa #TeamGaMa? Es el equipo conformado por mi hijo y por mí. GaMa se refiere a las dos primeras letras de nuestros nombres. Como mamá soltera, siempre he tratado de encontrar el equilibrio entre mente y emociones sanas. Al estar tan solos, desde que él era pequeño, se me ocurrió crear ese nombre para nosotros que nos definiese como un todo y hasta ahora, ha funcionado.
La adolescencia, esa etapa de cambios, descubrimientos y búsqueda de identidad, puede ser un momento complejo tanto para los adolescentes como para los padres. Sin embargo, en medio de los altibajos y las inevitables diferencias generacionales, también existen oportunidades únicas para fortalecer lazos y construir recuerdos imborrables. Una de estas experiencias que me llena de particular alegría es compartir tareas del liceo con mi hijo de trece años.
Más allá del simple hecho de colaborar en un proyecto académico, este momento se convierte en un espacio de conexión y aprendizaje mutuo. Sentados juntos en la mesa de la cocina, rodeados de crayones, papeles y lápices, la distancia entre nuestras edades se desvanece, dando paso a una conversación fluida y enriquecedora, mientras en el fondo, escuchamos música que a ambos nos gusta.
La verdad es que le presentaron varias entregas de trabajos de diferentes temas para el mismo día y uno de ellos era para defenderlo, para hacer una presentación sobre publicidad y propaganda.
Mientras mi hijo investiga y anota todos los conceptos y yo disfruto de su mente brillante en acción, de su pasión por el conocimiento y de su capacidad de análisis, yo hago los dibujos, que es la parte que a él le cuesta. Sus experiencias me transportan a mi propia época de estudiante, despertando recuerdos y emociones que están guardados en un rincón de mi memoria.
Me fascina escuchar sus perspectivas sobre la historia, la literatura o las ciencias, tan diferentes a las que yo tenía a su edad. Es como si una ventana se abriera hacia un mundo nuevo, lleno de ideas frescas y desafiantes. A su vez, puedo compartir con él mi experiencia, ofrecerle consejos basados en mis propios errores y aciertos, y guiarlo en su proceso de aprendizaje.
Y lo que sí tenemos mucho en común, es nuestra apreciación por la publicidad y la propaganda, quizás porque yo, siendo publicista, a veces le ha despejado sus dudas en cuanto a estos temas. Y me hace reír cuando me dice "mami" y yo volteo a mirarle y lo primero que veo es que se puso esa gran lupa delante de su cara. No pierde oportunidad para hacer una payasada.
Lo que él debía hacer, es prepararse para hacer su exposición. Para ello, comenzó a buscar en Internet todo lo concerniente a publicidad y propaganda, concepto, estructura, tipos, etcétera. Y luego, establecer las diferencias entre una y otra, para, por último, hacer las respectivas ilustraciones de cada una.
Todo eso se lo mandaron a hacer el jueves para entregarlo el lunes. Te podrás imaginar lo atareados que estábamos.
En cada tarea, en cada pregunta y en cada respuesta, se teje un hilo invisible que nos une como familia. Disfruto de su curiosidad, de su entusiasmo y de su afán por aprender. Y yo siempre estoy más que encantada de poder ayudarlo porque amo dibujar y pintar, es algo que me encanta y aunque no soy profesional en este arte, lo disfruto.
Al mismo tiempo, me siento orgullosa de su crecimiento, de su capacidad para enfrentar los desafíos académicos y de su compromiso con su educación. Verlo esforzarse, concentrarse y finalmente alcanzar sus metas me llena de satisfacción y me reafirma en la importancia de acompañarlo en este camino.
Compartir tareas del liceo con él, no solo nos acerca como madre e hijo, sino que también nos permite aprender el uno del otro. Es un intercambio de conocimientos, experiencias y perspectivas que enriquece nuestras vidas y fortalece nuestro vínculo afectivo.
Siento que estos momentos de conexión y aprendizaje son un bálsamo para el alma. Son un recordatorio de que, a pesar de las diferencias generacionales, compartimos valores, sueños y una profunda conexión que nos hace ser una familia. Porque como siempre se lo he dicho, una familia, también está conformada solo por dos personas.
Más allá de las notas y las calificaciones, lo que realmente importa es el tiempo que invertimos juntos, el aprendizaje mutuo y el crecimiento personal que experimentamos en cada tarea compartida. Es la construcción de un lazo inquebrantable que nos acompañará durante toda la vida.

En este mundo de redes sociales, de influencers, de juegos online que con frecuencia nos separa y nos aísla, compartir tareas del liceo con mi hijo es un oasis de conexión, aprendizaje y amor. Es un regalo invaluable que nos permite celebrar la belleza de la vida y la alegría de crecer juntos. Porque yo, como ser humano, siento que crezco con él, que aprendo cada día un poco más, de él, del regalo de su joven madurez.

Que chévere, ayer también hice un trabajo con mi hija de 11, ya con el de 14 es poco lo que lo ayudo con el trabajo se ha vuelto más independiente, pero igual si necesita apoyo el sabe que cuenta conmigo.
