Mushroom Monday - "Fresh" New Finds

Here are a few finds from the weekend for this #mushroommonday

Here is a fresh new mushroom right in the middle of a lawn.

It even has a little one growing next to it.

I'll have to keep an eye on this as it grows to get a better ID on it. I suspect it might be Agaricus campestris aka Meadow Mushroom. I hope it doesn't get mowed by a lawnmower before it can grow a bit more...

Here is a huge polypore growing on a tree with guttation from the heavy rain the night before.

It is some kind of ganoderma species but this one is a bit weird as it seems to grow fast and die quickly.

Here is one from last year nearby. It is already solid black and no longer growing.

Unlike many polypores this one is very brittle after dying. It will crumble into dust if you apply any pressure on it. So far I haven't been able to find an exact ID on it. I suspect it could work as a good fire starter with such a crumbly texture.

Ooomph look at this decaying mess. I suspect it might have been an old Lactarius piperatus that got attacked by high humidity and other fungus. I'm sure flies would love laying their eggs in this thing lol.

After witnessing such a rotten mushroom and finding no edible ones out in the wild I had to go to the store and look at some premium dried mushrooms. This time I had to get some black trumpets inspired by @steven-patrick and his black trumpet haul last Friday. The dried ones taste pretty good but they lack that fresh taste that recently foraged ones have. I ended up trying an experiment by infusing them in meatballs to use in spaghetti.

That's all for now happy #mushroommonday

There are many different and marvelous species of organisms.

These are all beautiful

They never cease to amaze in all their forms lol.

Happy #mushroommonday! We are just finishing off the last of those black trumpets. Made pizzas last night. glad to see you aren't too proud to by a few mushrooms 😁 Interesting finds this week. My odds are on the lawnmower over the nice new mushroom living long enough for positive ID.

I sure hope I can see it again today and hopefully it will be bloomed more before the lawnmower strikes lol. The nice thing about the black trumpets is they can store easily because they are already mostly dried.

wow, that's awesome. all the mushroom photos you share are very beautiful and amazing.

Thanks, hopefully I can find more this week.

Two heroes of your post are like 'beauty and the beast' ;)
