Fungi Friday - Fresh Fungi in the Forest

in Fungi Lovers4 years ago (edited)

This week I was able to find a few different fungi out in the woods, including Deer mushrooms and even a few oysters that were unfortunately past their prime. The recent rains followed by an abnormally early heat wave have brought many of the wood's dormant fungi to finally show themselves above ground. Attached are a few images of the different species I encountered on my most recent walk.

Feel free to offer your corrections if you believe I have mislabeled anything! Happy Fungi Friday FL!

Even ofter returning home from the woods, there were a few fungi waiting for me back in the garden. I'm not sure of the exact species for these mushrooms, but given their dark gills along with their fragile stems and caps, I'm fairly certain that they are some species of inkcap.

Inkcap (Genus Coprinopsis):

Good to see lots of fungi out, I'm headed up to the northwoods in Wisconsin next week so hopefully plenty will be growing up there.
