| I managed to photograph an unusual mushroom, resembling a dragon's crest. It grew (and still grows, apparently) on the trunk of a wild cherry plum tree on the side of the road. Most likely it is the Fomes fomentarius, which usually grows alone, but in this case, the individual fruiting bodies seem to have merged into a single, crest-like formation. The resemblance to the dorsal crest of a dragon (or perhaps a dinosaur) is given to it by the hardness that is characteristic only of old, perennial, Polyporaceae mushrooms. | Мені вдалося сфотографувати незвичайний трутовик, схожий на гребінь дракона. Він ріс (та й досі росте, мабуть) на стовбурі здичавілої аличі на узбіччі дороги. Найймовірніше це Трутовик справжній (Fomes fomentarius), який зазвичай росте поодинці, але в даному випадку окремі плодові тіла, схоже, зрослися в одне, гребенеподібне утворення. Схожості із спинним гребенем дракона (чи, можливо, якогось динозавра) йому надає твердість, характерна лише для старих, багаторічних, трутовиків. |
